Stephen Curtis Chapman: "Dive"
The long awaited rains
Have fallen hard upon the thirsty ground
And carved their way to where
The wild and rushing river can be found
And like the rain
I have been carried here to where the river flows, yeah
My heart is racing and my knees are weak
As I walk to the edge
I know there is no turning back
Once my feet have left the ledge
And in the rush I hear a voice
That's telling me it's time to take the leap of faith
So here I go

I'm diving in, I'm going deep, in over my head I want to be
Caught in the run, tossed in the flow, in over my head I want to go
The river's deep, the river's wide, the river's water is alive
So sink or swim, I'm diving in

There is a supernatural power
In this mighty river's flow
It can bring the dead to life
And it can fill an empty soul
And give a heart the only thing
Worth living and worth dying for, yeah
But we will never know the awesome power
Of the grace of God
Until we let our selves get swept away
Into this holy flood
So if you'll take my hand
We'll close our eyes and count to three
And take the leap of faith
Come on let's go

I'm diving in, I'm going deep, in over my head I want to be
Caught in the run, tossed in the flow, in over my head I want to go
The river's deep, the river's wide, the river's water is alive
So sink or swim, I'm diving in
So sink or swim, I'm diving in
So sink or swim, I'm diving in

Things have calmed down again. School work is getting done, Index should be sending me more inspection requests soon, and K-day draws ever closer. =)

I'm thinking that just for practice, I'm going to write a Python program that will sit on my desktop and keep a running countdown - to the thousandth of a second - of the time left until 10:40, January 1, 2005. Well, if it sucks up too much of my system resources, I'll make it to the hundredth of a second. But only while I'm playing Morrowind.

Hmm. It'd actually be a lot easier to do on a website with JavaScript. Anyway.

I almost got in trouble for "hacking into" my school's network the other day. Because apparently, accessing it with Linux neutralizes most of their safeguards. Though all I did was check one of my teachers' websites, they freaked out. Even though all I did was open up a web browser and look at the site. Totally unaware that through their incompetence, that made their system insecure.

...What can I say? We "hackers" are a crafty bunch.

Oh, and I've pretty much accepted that I'm going to fail Geography of California. It's not through any fault of my own, but it's over and done with now. No use worrying about it or holding a grudge against my dad. And honestly, it'll be nice to not have to get to school at 12:40 any more. XD

Ah... I've felt pretty good, too. Even before the sudden stress overload, and now, again, after it, I've really felt like I can live without worry. Like when Jesus slept on the boat in the middle of the storm, I can feel the world shattering all around me, and not be afraid. Reminds me of that new car commercial with the car driving down the middle of a wet street, other cars spinning out and sliding all around it, but getting through untouched, the driver completely confident. I'm sure there's some kind of parallel there, anyway.

The following passage helped with that, too. The quote in it almost seems written for the situation we're heading into. But we're assured that all we have to do is trust God, and we'll be completely taken care of.

More Than Conquerors
And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the likeness of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers. And those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also justified; those he justified, he also glorified.
What, then, shall we say in response to this? If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all--how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things? Who will bring any charge against those whom God has chosen? It is God who justifies. Who is he that condemns? Christ Jesus, who died--more than that, who was raised to life--is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us. Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? As it is written:

"For your sake we face death all day long;
we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered."

No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
