...it's important to have an opinion. but it is also important to realize that your actions have consequences and that "love cares more for others than for self...doesn't fly off the handle, doesn't keep score of the sins of others, doesn't revel when others grovel...puts up with anything. Trusts God always, always looks for the best..." (1 Corinithians 13:3-7...or something like that, The Message's way of numbering things confuses me).

I value your thoughts and opinions (you are brilliant, after all ;) ), but not when they are purposely trying to hurt someone else. Words cut deeper then any needle and their tattoo never fades from a person's heart.

I love you Laura. And I think you're wonderful.

P.S. (I'm as horrible about purposely hurting other people as anyone, probably more so. Words are where I find affirmation that I am loved, and so that's how I often strike out. I'm not saying anything to you that I'm not forever repeating to myself, so please don't think I'm judging...I'm not. Just offering unasked for advice, per usual ;) ).

No its fine. You are right. It started as a joke, in support of my sister, and then it just blew out of proportion, much as everything I seem to say or do these days does. I do have a habit of saying hurtful things, because much like you, its the only way I can strike back at people when they make me feel small. And in reality I just make myself look smaller, and feel/look stupid. So, I really am sorry. And I feel about an inch tall right now. So, yeah. I love you too Jenn.

I wasn't offended. (I so rarely am.)

But you're right, sin so often has this habit of shrinking our image of our self-worth and apparent value. It's nice to know that Christ has already worn our sin in a cloak of humilation.

Just spend time with Jesus. Once you grasp that He is absolutely wild about you (and everyone else that he's died for, which is everyone) the longing to hate, even in protection or in jest, quickly fades.

One day in one of the villages there was a man covered with leprosy. When he saw Jesus he fell down before him in prayer and said, "If you want to, you can cleanse me."

Jesus put out his hand, touched him, and said, "I want to. Be clean." Then and there his skin was smooth, the leprosy gone.

-Luke 5:12-13

He's just got this thing for sinners. You know?
