The TIOBE Programming Community gives an Index of most popular Programming Language in the industry. This Community claiming to update its index list each month provides programmer to check if ones programming skill is up to date. The ratings are based on Google, MSN and Yahoo! Search results, availability of skilled programmers, third party vendors etc.
There are total 50 languages in the list. While C++(3), VB(5), SQL(7) are in their old positions, ABAP(14) a business application programming language is moving fast in the index. In this index C language is on top making Java second recently. Bruce Eckel questioned the rating strategy in his blog, when he was asked about the reason for Java dropping down in list.
