i got married on halloween. to the most amazing man on the face of the planet.
my roomate, friend, and (almost) brother, died the day before thanksgiving. i don't want to retell the story, but let me just say- he was in the same position we left him 'sleeping' on the couch in. wednesday morning we woke up, thought he was asleep on the couch, and left for work. we had an eerie feeling on tuesday, all day, but we couldn't place it. it was a horrible day. we saw jimmy on tuesday morning, alive, sick as hell with what we thought was the flu. we didn't check on him tuesday night, due to the exhaustingly awful day we had. he heard him clomping around, we assumed he was ok. he wasn't ok. he must have died sometime tuesday night in his sleep. i will never forget coming home wednesday night to see the same houselight still on. the calm around the house completely chilled shawn and i. we knew. he went in, and i heard him scream "jimmy, wake up! jimmy wake up! wake up! wake up! wake up! jimmy!" i'll never forget that. i'll never forget going inside and seeing my friend completely purple, and blue, and yellow. he looked like a bruise. i told shawn to go outside. i checked his pulse. i check his breathing. he was so cold. his skin was almost prickly. jimmy was gone. he was so stiff. i made the call to 911. I've never done that before. Within minutes, the police, fire department, ambulence, were all outside. I still would not let shawn deal with it. I spent about three hours, off and on, speaking with law enforcement
