so here I am.
what's new? Last monday we had our first all-staff meeting for the Vox. That was exciting. I was certainly worried, afraid no one would have good ideas and we'd pump out a crap issue my first chance as leader. but, I don't think that will happen. On the whole, I was very pleased with the assignments and I think, provided all works out, this will be a darn good issue. I'm just going to write the editorial, which for this issue will just be a re-introduction of the Vox and a chance to mention our goals for the 2007-2008 year.
I'm also excited for the opportunities it'll provide this year. we're going to have a booth at the fair and do some event to gain exposure there. Additionally, we have writers getting interviews with the police chief and I'm going to the Spokesman Thursday for something to do with Cathy McMorris, our congressional rep. I'm not really sure what it is, but dammit, I'm going and I'm representing the Vox.
oh. And next week we're having a sort of "editors retreat", where the editorial staff will go to a spokesman reporter's lake cabin and spend the day there for fun and brainstorming purposes.
Yesterday and today I had mentor training for freshman orientation which was kinda ehhh. Parts of it were fun, getting to play the actual games, but all the exposition and going on about skils and purposes of activities is pretty boring. additionally, very few seniors are mentors relative to the juniors, plus even fewer seniors I like, so it's really a bit lonely. But still, I hope the orientation itself will be fun, I like the idea of seeing the freshmen all bright-eyed an bushy-tailed. or maybe sleepy and antisocial. but still.
