What a joyous and astounding day.
After sleeping for a deliciously satisfying 11 hours, I went into Philly with Devon to go to our first figure painting class at Moore. It felt good to be in the city again, although I wish we had had time to go to Reading Terminal. We ate lunch at the Wholefoods off the Parkway though, which was a pretty sweet deal given our Team Member discount cards.
The class itself was decent enough, my only qualm being that we did not have enough time to paint! I was spoiled by those 7 hour classes at PAFA over the summer, and because our teacher had a serious case of logorrhea, we probably only got about 2 hours and 20 minutes. He was taking it pretty slow, so we only did a monochromatic underlayer of the model, but it went well enough. I have high hopes for next week, and not only because our model is going to be male next time.
Our studio's best feature, I think, were its big diamond-shaped windows. As the snow started, we could see for blocks around. The minutes on the pavement after class had ended were the best part of the whole afternoon. By then the snow was coming down in huge fluffy clumps, my favorite kind, like feathers or small flying snowballs. There's something so soft and romantic about big snowflakes falling into your hair and blowing around your cheeks. On the ride home, they pelted against the windshield in little splats and pffs, like insects, except with not so much guts and deadness.
Tonight my mom is making homemade pizza. Life is sweet and good and kind and beautiful.
