sweet October

Whew! What a long, strange weekend it's been.

Yesterday was just one of the most beautiful days. Contrary to my previous feelings, I've warmed up to rain so much lately. I get this whole musing rainy-day-poetry type outlook. As long as I don't have humidity/low-pressure headaches, it all just feels really soft and slow and poignant.

Laurie and I drove into West Chester and went to Chester County Book Co on a You Are Beautiful mission. She brought in a bunch of little slips and we hid them in books and in little nooks in the shelves. Most of our efforts were concentrated around "self-help" books and fitness type reads. I keep thinking about it, and really hope that lots of different people will find our notes and feel a little happier, even for just a moment or two. The rest of our time there we spent browsing. Even though I don't have much time nowadays (or frustratingly waste it if I do), I just love being around books.

After that, we hung around West Chester, and spent a good hour or so in Brew Ha Ha, because warm caffeinated beverages are perfect for chilly damp days. I hope I can see her more often, because talking to her was wonderful. We roamed around and hit up the CD store, the vintage clothes store (they had a GREAT turquoise sparkly bead necklace), the kids' candy store, and the chocolatier. I couldn't help but moan aloud when eating that raspberry truffle.

The PSATs today were gag-worthy as expected, especially math. English was a breeze, but I swear that math got HARDER since last year, which doesn't seem quite right. The only good parts of the morning were waking up from a beautifully romantic dream and also having a passage about T-rexes and their "inability to clap" that made me laugh out loud because I just associated it with this.

I've been pretty busy today, what with PSATs, doing my sketchbook assignment, revising a lang essay, and writing a french composition. Not to mention that relatives from Kansas are visiting, my mom's aunt and her husband. They're really sweet, and I found out that he met Duke Ellington ("a perfect gentleman") and the Rolling Stones when he was younger. What a cool thing to be able to tell people.

I'm so excited nowadays. My birthday's in just about three weeks. I feel so romantic right now, I fall in love with everyone I see. Complicated yes, but fun, even more so.
