it is tricky to get off campus (shared houses, usually) housing without lots of prep time. BUT, i really do recommend living on campus at least at first, we're very close-knit community & the dorm facilities aren't that bad. do you know where you might be living?

no clue where i might be living. the whole housing application process is annoying, you dont know where you're living til like a week before move-in.

i definitely know the benefits of living on campus at first, cuz i did that at my old school. i think i want to live on campus or really close to campus the whole time i'm there, but i just know from my visit that there are a lot of houses on the surrounding blocks, and they seemed nice.

the problem with the houses in the area is a lot of them are simply families/local people who happen to live by Oxy. there's definitely student housing available, but like the above person said, you usually need to have lots of planning/prep time to get it to work. but if you get lucky and still want to second semester you could try to find a place where someones going abroad in spring?

I lived in an off-campus situation last year, and I actually preferred the community that I found in the dorms. Like some of the people above said, it's a close-knit situation, and I missed it last year. So, for my senior year, I'm rocking the on campus situation for the last time.

Also, the size of the room just depends on which dorm you live in. If you're living in a double, try for Chilcott... they're former triples that have turned into doubles just this year, so they're pretty large. I had a great time living in Stewert-Cleland my sophomore year as well.

I hope you enjoy Oxy!
