Perfect Day

Aug 02, 2011 21:10

On Saturday, Don and I woke up at 4:30am to go to Fenton where the hot air balloon ride was. He bought us tickets for a hot air balloon ride for my birthday and we finally had the chance to go! It was so amazing. The reason it was so early was because they only fly the balloons during the sunrise and sunset or it'd be too hot. It was such a beautiful blessing to be able to watch it. Being in the sky, looking down at God's creation was just such a memory full of amazement and beauty.

One of the passengers on our balloon was a lady who got it as her 75th bday present who had always wanted to ride in a hot air balloon. It was so spectacular to experience that moment with her. Don and I called her Neema... because she's our Neema. She really seemed to enjoy our presence, too, because she took a picture with us and sat with us during the "ceremony" afterward. The ceremony consisted of the pilot telling us the history of the hot air balloon and we ended up with a toast of champagne at 8-something in the morning.

That in itself was enough activity for a day. It was such a wonderful experience and I cannot be more thankful to Don for that. He has no idea, but it was the best birthday present I've ever received. I had one of those clarifying moments up in the air. And I was even more blessed that Don dropped an extra 200$ just to spend that time with me. It meant so much to me.

Next on our to-do list... Muskegon!! Specifically, Pere Marquette beach. It was the exact same beach that I had taken Patrick... one of my best moments of last year. Don and I got there and it was the hottest I've ever experienced being there. We took about three naps and went in the water after each because it would be too hot to just chill. He had forgotten the big beach umbrella he bought last year [we keep forgetting it] but we definitely made due with his regular rain umbrella. It actually perfectly fit us. We had a lot of fun in the water, too. He just kept spider-monkey jumping on me, but it was cool because he's so light in the water that I didn't mind it at all. hahaha It was just wonderful being all intimate with him during our mini-vacation.

When we finally got hungry, we headed off to the Station Grill which happened to be bumpin'!! The food was amazing and we enjoyed some Mike's Hard Lemonade.. he had the regular and I had the pink. Can you believe there's a Mike's Hard PINK Lemonade?! Because I can't. It was honestly the BEST ending to such a wonderful day. The food was as satisfying and wonderful as the service was from our waitress. We got to sit at the bar which in my opinion was lucky of us because we had service right in front of us.

Just thinking back about that day... which was just two days ago, I can't help but smile as I re-write the moments. God really shined His light on us that day and just aligned the stars for us. It was magical and definitely a memory to last a lifetime. It's on my mental list of favorite moments, which include the day we went to Silver Lake with Ryan and Tricia... and even the day Don and I celebrated one of our "month-iversaries" when we went to Ikea for meatballs, Ann Arbor for Bubble Island, and then Como's for dancing.

I'm so happy right now. Everything just feels right and feels so good.

awesome boyfriend, appreciation, birthday, perfect day, happy
