That was a few nights ago. But it still applies.
Since then,
+I was offered the job at HMV. According to Otis they interviewed a lot of people, so apparently i did well. The downside of this is that i'm now under pressure to DELIVER. Scary! Also, i'm on a part time contract, but they are offering me lots of hours so i'm safe for now.
So far, it's been okay. My first day was nerve-wracking. I have to use their database to do product searches and the like and i keep getting it wrong and just handing over to another member of staff. Plus, i've made a few massive blunders. I should just go back to studying, nice private studying. However, since i've always been good at being polite and HMV are all about customer service, i'm quite enjoying the niceness side of it! I hope that i settle in well and that i get the hang of it all quickly. Everybody really knows their popular culture&music, so i need to get my groove on&get up to scratch.
I have to tell you, it's like shopping for 8 and a half hours a day! I've seen so many things i want, i NEED! I get an excellent 30% discount too, yum.
+I have brought myself a Canon EOS 350D digital SLR, with a 1gb memory card and a 50mm f/1.8 lense (lens?!). SCARY! I'm mostly frightened of (a)not having the time to learn how to use it (b)not actually understanding it at all (c)regretting buying it, it is A LOT of money. (However, thanks to the lovely
lyra, i saved £30!) I had a little play on it last night and, since i'm used to all the settings and menus from my regular digital camera, it doesn't seem too hard to master. Mmm, it's beautiful.
-I'm missing my family so much. Mum was meant to be visiting with my darling Hayley this weekend, but since i'm now a slave to the man, she can't come until thursday. I miss everybody and feel like i will miss them forever and ever.
P.s If anybody happens to be passing through Manchester Piccadilly train station, swing by the HMV they have there and say hi! (But please try to avoid asking me to demonstrate my excellent *cough* product knowledge/database skills)
Hi ho hi ho, it's off to work i go...
