I really miss being able to add digital pics easily! I need to lug the projects into work so I can take some pics with the camera there.
Anyways, I am really getting sick of being sick. Today makes exactly 2 weeks I've had this crazy cold, and I don't know how much more of it I can take. Besides, I hate that I'm eating up all this vacation time -- sometimes being a contract elf really sucks.
So today was uneventful, other than a quick trip to the North Pole and bit of shopping at Zellers. Socks and underwear, hurray! I also picked up some tupperware for my stash, which is now neatly sorted by weight & fibre content. And oh yes, there are labels. It just wouldn't be me without the labels.
I also finished my first ever yarn-dying experiment. I'm still not sure how I feel about the results- I wish I could get the colours more saturated, but I suspect I can only do so much with food colouring. Perhaps I'll give real fabric dyes a stab, although I always seem to manage to get that stuff absolutely everywhere whenever I try to use it. So the dyed yarn is a nice greenish-greyish heathery colour. I'm knitting it up as a very loose version of the Men's Cashmere Scarf from
Last Minute Knitted Gifts, and so far so good. I forgot the instant gratification of knitting something on giant needles! I've already got about 6" done, after only about an hour's knitting.
Mariah Mark II is coming along nicely too; back is done, the right front is done, and I'm working on the left front now. I've opted for a v-neck and am leaving off the hood, so I'm actually almost there! I guess I really overdid it when I ordered the yarn, because I'm going to have about 18 balls of the
Peruvian Baby Silk in Oxblood left over. I don't mind though, it is so luscious I'm sure I'll find another use for it, although
berecyntia had expressed some interest in maybe swapping for some of it. We shall have to see.
*From now on, I'm an elf and I work for Santa at the North Pole. No more referring to work in any other way.
