I'm Still Alive!

Ok, I guess I should let everybody know why I wasn't in school today, and will be absent again on Wednesday. I'm typing here because I don't want to have to explain it to everyone over and over and over.

So, late last night I noticed that my heart was beating rather oddly, and a few minutes after it started I felt like I wasn't breathing enough. It really bothered me and I couldn't sleep, so I told my parents. Long story short, I ended up in the ER at St. Mary's hooked up to heart moniters, EKGs, and a huge wonking needle in my arm for blood drawing (this is NOT very comftorable, especially when it's poking into your fucking vein for about 4 hours). Anyway, they took a chest x-ray, did a bunch of tests, and the good news is that my heart is fine. The thing is, though, they ran this test, I think it's called a TSH, that has something to do with your thyroid. This little test spits out a number when it's through, and a normal reading is about 0.3-0.5. My test came back 0.02. That's a problem. So they diagnosed me with Hyperthyroidism, and called the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia to get me admitted. Then they said I could go home (at 4 in the morning... yay...) and sent me on my way. The people from CHOP called back this morning, and they said that they'll get me in on Wednesday.

So, that's about it. Apparently, my Aunt Maxine called about my grandpa (he was in the hospital yesterday too because of a mild heart attack, but he's ok), and my mom asked about any history of thyroid issues, and apparently my other aunt and cousin both had Hypothyroidism (not the same... but close). Well, who whould've thought. So, no school for me two days this week, which is happy, except I miss the people I haven't seen since before the trip as I was rather looking foward to seeing them. Still, I'm going to try and sneak into play practice tonight and do my ASM duty.
