It's the little things

He hasn't been around much. He knows that. And he knows he has to fix it.

So when Barbara wakes up this morning, and rolls sleepily out to the kitchen for coffee before Mary wakes up, she'll find a single white carnation waiting for her on her laptop's keyboard. With it, an envelope, inside which she'll find a card detailing reservations for two on Sunday afternoon at their favorite Italian restaurant.

"Even the best mothers need to not be mothers for a while. I've missed our quality time. Let's fix that."

Wrapped around the flower's stem? A sterling silver necklace featuring an emerald-studded pendant of a bat.
