i have my schedule now. it is as follows:
arabic 101 (i skipped the placement test so i would have one easy class)
statistics
philosophical perspectives on the humanities
power, identity, and resistance
i'm excited. it is going to be so much work. phil-per and power are the hardest HUM and SOSC classes offered. shit.
last night was wild. matthew ended up sleeping over because two of our friends who live in a different dorm were in his bed. together. and the guy (zach) woke up with blood on his face and no idea how it got there. everyone was impressively drunk. i probably shouldn't have chugged that last one with zach, but it was all fine. a little headache this morning, but nothing serious. dancing to justin timberlake with matthew and nelly was fabulous. i think i got over my stupid little problem. or, at least, i'm on my way to being over it. later at night, matthew and i were feeling lonely, since both claire and zach had brought their hookups home, so we had platonic snuggles and talked shit.
today it was sunny and 75, so i woke up at noon, ate, and lay in the grass outside snell house with miles and bruno. i learned how to roll a cigarette, listened to bob dylan, and read a bunch of poetry. it was great. then i went on a cigarette run with matthew and claire, and also bought groceries and sandwiches, since the dining hall doens't serve dinner on saturdays. then i cleaned my room, and went with claire to a party at the museum of science and industry. we watched an IMAX movie on antartica. it was fucking awesome. now we're resting up and killing time before we all regroup for the crown jewel of the orientation week parties: DISORIENTATION. we plan to go, stay as long as possible, and then attempt to walk to the point to watch the sun rise over lake michigan.
right now i think i'm going to go for a coffee and a cigarette with miles.
later.
