So this whole Terry Schiavo thing is just pushing things into a scary direction. The facts in the case are all there and I don't really want to get into it. I agree with Michael Schiavo. I would like to note a few things though that scare me... changing perceptions and all.

The Democratic party (and liberals in general) has a problem. Their problem: they want to kill the innocent and save the guilty. By this I mean, it's mainly liberals pushing for the Michael Schiavo, and that's perceived as being eager to kill Terri Schiavo. It's also the Democrats that are pro-choice and thus eager to kill (unborn) babies. Democrats are also against the death penalty, traditionally. They are also against the war in Iraq. Anti-war = pro-terror = pro-letting-evil-people-live. Thus, I say they want to save the guilty and kill the innocent. While we all know this isn't true, the perception needs to change.

Reading a book by Jim Wallis about the lack of a sort of liberal vision. This is what is sparking these thoughts.

In other news, I was pulled over (surprise!) for going 58 on I-65 around the Kennedy Bridge. Turns out they dropped the speed limit to 40 due to it being a work zone. While there were signs posted about it being a work zone, I did not note that the speed limit had been so reduced. So instead of going 8 over, I was going 18 over. Instead of it being a typical 18 over ticket, it's a work zone double ticket. I got letters from TWO attorneys talking about going to court and getting it reduced to defective instruments or whatever-the-fuck. One of them charged $40. This shit is bottom-feeding. Worse than ambulance chasing, they're reading over citation reports and sending out ads to people that were pulled over... FOR FORTY DOLLARS. I called my dad about these and he told me to call the attorney that helped me through that other thing and he said he could do the same thing, for more money. Now, I don't feel right getting it reduced like that, because I knew I was going fast. I'd like to argue my case that there were no postings of reduced speed, but I don't know that there weren't, just that I didn't notice them. I have no problem with paying tickets that I deserve, but I don't think I deserve this one, at least not as serious a ticket as I got, anyway.

I would like to state again, however, that highway patrol officers are modern day Sheriffs of Nottingham. They're tax collectors required to meet a quota. Nothing against their job, I know it's dangerous, but it would probably be less dangerous if they didn't pull over people frivolously.

There you go.
