Yeah, stupid political addiction

This is fucking amazing.

We have a $700 billion bailout on the backs of taxpayers due to the failed economic policy of the last 8 (16? 30?) years. That's higher than the cost of the Iraq war. We have a 6.1% unemployment rate, and rising.

The Republican candidate for president is echoing economic policy similar to that of the past 8 years when he's not disclaiming that he doesn't know that much about the economy. The Republican candidate for vice-president thought that Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac grew "too big and too expensive for the taxpayers," when "the taxpayers" weren't paying for either institution (though I believe they were insuring them both, which makes the statement ironic).

On the other side we have the Democratic candidate for president meeting with financial advisors like a former Treasury Secretary, a former Federal Reserve Chairman, and Warren-FUCKING-Buffet, to figure out an economic plan to get us out of this hellscape. (If you notice in that article, McCain is quoted as wanting to punish predatory lenders and fraud, but those were only part of the problem, and the subprime lending was LEGAL. I think this implies that he "fundamentally" trusts the system as it stands. He condemns the bailouts, but offers nothing in their place.)

Anyway, what I find "fucking amazing" are the incremental increases in Obama's lead. Maybe it's just late enough in the election season that people are slow to change. Anyway, Obama has gained two percentage points (one per day) since Friday in the national Gallup poll, and McCain has not lost a point. WTF!?
