I must say that I have not kept such an extensive inventory of my personal hygiene as
Ms. Francie Diep, but her entry did inspire me to do my own personal hygiene inventory. Although I'm mainly going to focus on the one that I have chosen to use rather than list all of the bad, because I have a lot of homework to get done before finals next week.
I can see this as the next big wave of blog quiz type thingers.
Toothpaste
I use Crest Sensitivity, whitening, plus scope. I always had very sensitive teeth. This toothpaste has knocked it out, while offering all the benefits of whitening plus scope! I also am a big fan of Tom's of Maine Natural Antiplaque toothpaste with propolis and myrrh, gingermint & baking soda. I highly recommend this if you can stand the flavor of baking soda. It cleans very well and feels good too. Plus, myrrh was good enough for Jesus, so it must be good for my teeth!
Floss
I personally enjoy Tom's of Maine, Natural, antiplaque flat floss. It is rather thick and is good at cleaning out those hard to reach places. It is naturally spearmint flavored, but the flavor is not strong like other floss coated in sugar and fake flavor. If anything, the flavor is more of an olfactory experience.
Mouthwash
Tom's of Maine Natural Anticavity fluoride mouthwash, lemon-lime works great. It provides the fluoride my teeth need and the antioxidant green tea. It tastes good and gets the job done.
Face Wash
I can't use face wash. Anything I use just dries out my skin way too much. I don't even wash it with soap. Just good ol water while I shower.
Acne Treatments
Lucky for me, acne isn't a big problem. On the occasional event that something pops up (no pun intended!) I use my Melaleuca Zap-it quick stick. A highly concentrated dose of Salicylic acid (the main active ingredient in all acne medication, usually less than 1% of total product)
Facial Moisturizers
Since I don't wash my face and dry it out, I don't need to moisturize it either. However, I usually use Melaleuca Alloy aftershave after shaving, which is very moisture rich. I get most comments about smelling good after I put this on.
Lip Balms
Most lip balms are made with known carcinogens. I choose a more natural route. Burts Bee's is the only stick for my lips. And I can't live without. If I go one day without chapstick, my lips freak out.
Body Wash
Melaleuca Alloy Bodywash is a great body wash that keeps me clean, fresh, and has a slight manly smell to it.
Body Lotions
The only one I'll use is Burt's Bees Carrot Nutritive Body Lotion, with Vitamin E & Beta Carotene. IT'S AMAZING! It is water based, 98.67% natural, smells naturally delicious, and is YELLOW! This lotion is so great, seriously. It even obliterated my dry skin that prescriptions couldn't get rid of.
Deodorant
I am allergic to most deodorants, they burn when I wear them for extended hours. But I have to get antiperspirant as well, because I really don't like getting sweaty. The only one that I can use that doesn't burn is Melaleuca Alloy Antiperspirant & Deodorant. If I run out, I can handle Old Spice for a limited amount of time.
Shampoo and Conditioner
I usually don't use shampoo, maybe one a week. It dries out my hair too much. Usually I just condition. I found a really good conditioner while I was in Germany, but I'm almost out. I have since switch to Burt's Bees grapefruit conditioner for extra shine something or other like that... I can't remember the exact name. So far it's working ok.
