Hey Hey LJ!!! It’s been awhile!
Now!... there’s a WHOLE LOT to update since January this year. I am leaving last year behind since it was a stressful year and instead I will be focusing on this year which so far has been more than totally AWESOME!!!!
This WHOLE entry will be VERY lengthy, although I hope it’ll be entertaining so please do comment if you read even just part of it. (^_^) (Just to warn you I wrote over 12 pages in Word)
Jealkb!!!! Simply amazing!!!
Since I haven’t really updated anything on this blog last year, very few people except my close friends in Japan would know that I have been completely hooked on Jealkb since last year. First of, I’d better introduce who they are. (Laura I borrowed some of your picture and infos for this, please don’t kill me XD)
This will turn into a bit of a pic spam too because… well.. I love them anyway! ^_^
For starters, Jealkb is a visual-kei band who was formed back in January of 2005 sort of as a half-joke. All of it's members are all comedians from Yoshimoto Kougyo except one who has quit before. Yoshimoto Kougyo is a well known company that basically produces comedians. The reason how these members actually ended up together is because they all live together in the same building and are very good friends.
Some pictures of the members in their various outfits, some are older and some are more recent, I've tried to put them in order more or less.
with sakura sama on Haderu-sama's right.
The main vocalist, Haderu-sama writes all the lyrics to the songs. (with the exception of a few written by other members) His other half, Tamura Atsushi is well known all across Japan through his TV shows who are famous for basically picking on people, both common and famous. He is also called "Mr. Scandal" since he has had a lot of girlfriends in the past years, even though he was never infidel. Gossip magazines like to destroy his relationships it seems. When Haderu-sama wants to refer to his more famous self, he refers to him as his "twin brother" but clearly states that they don't get along very well, proving clearly that he does not want to be associated with this image while he is with Jealkb.
Here are pictures of Haderu-sama and his other half. Mind you I like both of them but as totally different people, even if they have a lot of the same traits, especially when it comes to caring about fans and people in general.
The name Haderu comes from the fact that his front teeth are sorta sticking out. Ha = teeth, Deru = stick out, go out
Next is the drummer and also the band's leader, Elsa-sama! Elsa-sama is the only one of the group who is not part of Yoshimoto Kougyo anymore but he is an undeniable presence to the group, especially since he composes the songs! But also because he is a totally awesome ojisan (old guy). He's not THAT much older than the rest of the group, but he is the eldest and gets picked on about it. His real name is
衛藤幸生 (If anyone could tell me how this is read?)
The name Elsa comes from the box of tissues that was close by when he picked his name. XD
I do not have any pictures of Elsa-sama without his make-up or anything because he is not an entertainer anymore and also because I do not want to use low quality cell phone pics.
Next member would have to be the lead guitarist, Ediee-sama!! His other half is Ookawa Tomohide from the comedians group ニブンノゴ! (Nibunnogo). Ediee-sama almost always wears his mask (especially during shows) which at first was apparently very hard for him to talk through. Since then he has gotten used to it and can speak and be heard but often to check if what we hear and what he really says is right, Hideki-sama will lift his mask up and ask him to repeat, which he will usually say something different but that sounds similar. This is a running gag that goes on everytime and is always funny. ^_^ Even though Ookawa always keep sort of curly hair, when he changes into Ediee-sama, he straightens it and looks TOTALLY hot!
The "E" in his name comes from the fact that he is good at drawing, and a drawing in Japanese is "e".
Next is the other guitarist, Mofto-sama! Mofto-sama's alter-ego is Kikuchi Kenichi (please tell me I got that right?) who right now is not part of any combi (comedy group) either but is still under Yoshimoto. Mofto-sama is known to be the girly one of the group and it is said he dresses like a girl not because he is girly, but because he LIKES girls!
The name mofto comes from "momo futoi" which translates as "fat thighs". The regular picture is one of the few I could find, but mind you he looks cute as a girl, and really masculine and hot as a man too! XD
The next member would have to be dunch-sama! His other half is Koori Takayuki from the comedy duo じゃぴょん .(Japyon) Dunch-sama is known to be very quiet and shy and usually is not really involved in discussion unless he is being picked on by Haderu-sama, which happens pretty much everytime. XD
Dunch-sama's name comes from the fact that where his parents live is called a "団地" (danchi) in japanese which refers to a sort of appartment complex. The second picture is with his aikata (partner) who is also a sub-member of jealkb, Daizu.
Next, the very important keyboardist (who does not actually play), also the back vocalist, chaos-sama. (Ch is pronounced like a "c" here) While chaos-sama may get picked on by non-fans because he cannot play the piano, he is never the less the back vocalist and also the one person who will usually get a conversation going with Haderu-sama during the MC. His presence is undeniable. His alter-ego is Kanenari Kiminobu from the comedy duo ハローバイバイ (Hello Byebye). While it seems that Kanenari gets along with pretty much ANYONE in Yoshimoto, for some reason his aikata and him really hate each other. (-_-)
Chaos comes from the joining of two words from a sentence. "kao sugeeee dekai" (kao = face, sugee = very, dekai = huge) They shortened "kao" and "sugee" and squished them together, written differently.
Last but not least, my darling violinist, death-voice and dancing move teacher, Hideki-sama! Hideki-sama is the only member using his real name (Morimoto Hideki) because the name he had picked for himself at first was so lame that the others threatned to kick him out if he chose that. Hideki-sama cannot play the violin (neither is there any violin in jealkb songs, even if some people seem to believe there is.. O.o) but can pull a really neat death-voice and is the one who will show the moves to do during the songs during shows. Mind you it's not just all hands movements, a lot of it is also head banging. Also with Chaos-sama they always get mini-conte going on during MC's which are totally great. Lately he created a song "Discharge" which he gets to sing now in concerts too. Hideki-sama is also the other member of Nibunnogo. The third members being Sakura-sama who is only a sub-member.
Hideki-sama is MINE!!!! No touching! ^_^
Sakura-sama, while I do not have a personal picture right now, is basically not "part" of the group but actually is in the fact that he will come on stage and introduce jealkb and warm-up the crowd, then he goes IN the audience and basically is there the whole show with people chearing for jealkb.
And that was it for the members... now on to the concert reviews...
Laura (
roler ) and Emmalee (
emmling ) had come over in October with their friend from America Elizabeth (
zizz ) and we went to see one of their shows in Tokyo. From then Laura and I especially kept in very close contact since we knew a tour would be coming up. When it was time to apply for tickets, we decided to go to not just one.. but 3 different place together. We chose Oosaka (where she lives), Nagoya (in the middle) and Tokyo (where I live). Back then we were both sorta worried about the money and all, but I think that right now neither of us regret ANY second of it since it was TOTALLY worth the money spent since we got sooo SOOOOOO much love out of all this! ^_^
January 24th, 2009 -> jealkb 「狼煙薔薇ノ夜」Tour (In Namba Hatch, Oosaka)
The Oosaka show was the 2nd of 8 total for this tour. This was also my first time going to a jealkb “one-man” show. (Basically of them alone and no other groups)
I spent the night before at Laura’s place and actually spent some time with Alyson, Emmalee and another friend of theirs, Lydia. For the concert, Alyson was not coming but Danielle was coming along making 5 of us total. The only problem was, since we can only get 4 tickets by person when applying, 1 of us had to go alone, and that was me. Laura was lucky as usual and got really good numbers (like 30-40s) whereas I had ticket number 530. First we had to wait outside too (and we had left our jackets in the lockers and all already) and it was SOOOOO freezing! Very windy that day too but a very nice girl near me lent me her scarf while we were waiting. Soooooo nice! ^_^
When I finally got in, I figure I might be able to maybe squeeze in 5-6th row but it turned out the front was really not packed and I managed to find Laura and the rest and end up second row with them. (^_^)V I’m not going to review the WHOLE concert but I will give some highlights here!
Highlights:
- Haderu-sama found us REALLY quickly since we were dead center in front of him on the stage. He gave us a LOT of looks, and when I say looks, I mean deep eye contacts. He REALLY takes time to acknowledge the fans in the audience and you can totally tell when he is looking at you. He really is sooo great to the fans. And he REALLY looked at us often!
- I remember having eye contact a lot with Chaos-sama too towards the end. Not really sure why myself but who cares?! XD
- Ediee-sama did come up front a lot too and did look our way quite a few times that night.
- Haderu-sama brought Chaos-sama up on the front stage to dance “How much is your love?” with him. It was soooooooo cute the way Chaos-sama was embarrassed but it was totally worth it. Chaos-sama did try to escape in the back again halfway through and Haderu-sama had to drag him back.
- Before Hideki-sama’s song “Discharge”, he asked the audience to untie their handkerchief. (Everybody now ties it around their wrist since it can get into people’s eyes, this was decided by the fans as proper concert manners and then adopted by the members too.) Anyways, when Hideki-sama asked that, we were probably very loud when we said “EEEHHHH?” because he looked STRAIGHT at us and said “Yeah I said UNTIE IT.” (Don’t worry, he was not angry at us, this is total character for the song anyway… come on.. he told us to die before singing it XD )
- Haderu-sama at the end of the concert took off his nails and actually gave one to Laura then tried to give one towards me too but someone knocked it off.
Anyways this was a really fun live! And Haderu-sama at the end totally enjoyed adding more songs for the encore while Elsa-sama was glaring at him with a “Are you KIDDING me?” look. He still did it though! ^_~
February 7th, 2009 -> jealkb 「狼煙薔薇ノ夜」Tour (In Diamond Hall, Nagoya)
The Nagoya live was the 7th out of 8 shows, but the second one I went to this tour. It was also the most “moriagatta” one and the most “violent” yet “clean” one. It’s hard to explain. Most people that went to Nagoya are not even FROM Nagoya. Usually they are the most hardcore fans and it’s also a central point which is easier to get to from either side of the country then some other places. It’s more violent in the sense that people are REALLY into it but it was clean because seriously, it just was clean! The whole “nori” was good, people were all doing the same things at the same time, no one pushing or pulling or doing anything annoying. It was really nice!
This time we went on Laura’s tickets, which were numbers in the early 40s, totally awesome! Laura, Emmalee, Aki and I dashed as soon as we went in and opted for the center-right area (between Haderu-sama and Hideki-sama’s spot) since it would be less rough and also because both Aki and I are big Hideki-sama fans. We were 2nd row from beginning ‘til end! Actually, I don’t think that we could have moved if we wanted, it was seriously hard to move since the front was totally packed behind us. We had no choice but to follow the flow! XD Also the first row and the stage were really CLOSE. The stage was low so seriously, the members could totally touch us. (which they did later)
Highlights:
- Haderu-sama spotted us again very early one and gave us one again a LOT of love and attention… seriously! (^_^)
- Hideki-sama also spotted us very early and waved his hand at us. (I mean he was seriously less than a meter away. He also gave us a lot of love during the show and would often look our way and my way making me blush away. What can I say… he is THAT gorgeous! (*^_^*) I would often look at him but if he looked back I would quickly look into Haderu-sama’s direction because I felt embarrassed for staring. (-_-);
- Laura and I both had one hand stuck to our side unable to move for most of the concert so during “How much is your love?” we made a heart together using our free hand. All the members smiled when they saw us do that. (Since they do it together on stage anyway) Also Haderu-sama dragged Chaos-sama back up front again, who looked more comfortable doing it this time.
- Speaking of Chaos-sama, he sang “Yukiato” for Nagoya and it was really lovely, even though Laura wished it would have been Haderu-sama singing it since it’s one of her favorite songs. Anyways people were very happy to hear Chaos-sama sing a song at the concert. I heard that he also sang “How much is your love?” at another venue but I did not see it.
- Once again speaking of Chaos-sama, Hideki-sama and him had this running gag after “yukiato” where they would cry and then try to explain why Chaos-sama could not find sleep the day before (which seemed to “magically” happen only the day before the concert. XD) and then get Chaos-sama to make an “あいうえお作文” which refers to an anagram. I don’t remember the Oosaka one or even the Tokyo one but I ADORED to Nagoya one. He also made it from “Aichi Nagoya” (Aichi is the prefecture in which Nagoya is)
Hideki-sama -> Aichi’s “A”
Chaos-sama -> Aichiteru! (Kind of baby talk version to say “I love you”)
Audience -> Wooooooooo! ^_^
Hideki-sama -> Aichi’s “i”
Chaos-sama -> I already used all of Aichi…
Haderu-sama -> Then that doesn’t make an anagram at all, it’s totally against the purpose of an anagram!
Hideki-sama -> Oh… so you used “aichi” for “aichiteru”. Then Nagoya’s “Na”? (They’re are doing this by hiragana-syllables, not roman letters)
Chaos-sama -> Nanchatte! (Roughly translates as “As if!” basically contradicting his previous line)
Audience -> BOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!! (-_-)
Hideki-sama -> Let’s wait and see.. there’s still two more! Nagoya’s “Go”
Chaos-sama -> Gomen ne! (“I’m sorry!)
Audience -> Aaaawwwwwww….
Hideki-sama -> See he’s a nice guy afterall. Last… Nagoya’s “Ya”
Chaos-sama -> Yappari Nanchatte! (“Nope! I really didn’t think it” )
Audience -> BOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! (-_-)
Haderu-sama -> This is the first time you’ve been booed so far. (^_^)
**** Just to translate more properly.
Aichi => Aichiteru => I love you!
Na => Nanchatte => Just kidding you!
Go => Gomen ne! => I’m sorry!
Ya => Yappari Nanchatte! => No seriously I was really kidding you
HAHAHAHAH I love Chaos-sama! So evil! (^_^)!
- I had for some reason a lot of eye contacts with Ediee-sama that night, which I am SOOOOOO not complaining about.
-
- Hideki-sama did looked my way a lot during this show but always tends to look further in the back in general, so I guess that’s good! ^_^
- We got to hear Hideki-sama sing "Discharge" twice IN A ROW because of Haderu-sama's improvisation again. Poor Hideki-sama was looking at Haderu-sama with a "Are you serious?" face. Even Elsa-sama looked like he wanted to punch Haderu-sama with a "Are you trying to kill me?" face. Note this song is far from my favorite to listen to at home, but it's really good for the live. Still twice where Hideki-sama has to sing high picthed, really fast and with a death voice.... yikes! Poor Hideki-sama was very quiet for awhile after the second time and drinking lots of water.
- During the last part of the show, Emmalee was squished really hard and got also knocked on the head and couldn't handle it anymore. I put my arm around Emmalee trying to protect her a little while I was looking for a staff up front. Hideki-sama noticed this and called a staff person over for me to get Emmlaee out. Sooooooo nice!! ^_^
- Laura got her hand squeeze by Haderu-sama twice during the show when he reached out into the audience.
-
- Hideki-sama put out his hand in my area and Aki and I were both able to touch it too.
-
- Oh I was forgetting!!!! Laura got Hideki-sama spit on her arm! XD (hahahahaha)
-
- When Elsa-sama came back on stage after the last song, he reached out his hand to us too! ^_^
And that’s pretty much it for Nagoya I think. It was really totally awesome!!! ^_~
February 8th, 2009 -> jealkb 「狼煙薔薇ノ夜」Tour (In Zepp Tokyo, Tokyo)
Back home, Laura, Aki and I tried to find some sleep but seriously, I’d be surprised if either of us slept more than an hour total since we were WAYYYYYYY too hyper. First Laura and I wrote our letters to jealkb and I wrote a personal one to Hideki-sama for the first time. Last time at the handshake event I had written one for all of them and gave them some maple candies, this time I gave them a different kind of maple candies plus Maple syrup for Hideki-sama ONLY! (as I also wrote on it) Seriously my letter was totally cute and not too fangirly even though I was VERY embarrassed about it. And well… judging from later response, I’d say he wasn’t totally freaked about it, if anything maybe happy. (more later)
The concert itself was very different than the others this tour. The stage was different, used a clear screen to project images on, they had a lot of visual effects, some videos at the beginning to promote the goods (which were totally hilarious!) and also manners and other stuff. You could tell this would be different. And there were 2500people in the place that day! This time I went with Laura, Sarah (
sarita_sy07 )and Aki went with other friends.
Even though we had numbers 398-400, we still ended up making it behind the first set of bars since there was a lot of room left there. I was in the third row for quite awhile actually. We started again middle-right but got shifted towards the middle during the show.
Before highlights, I’m going to say that the “fuinki” (atmosphere) at the beginning sorta really sucked. See Haderu-sama had prepared some sort of “invocation” thing that all Jealers had to chant to make them come out, but that thing was posted like 3 days before that venue and it was with difficult kanji and quite fast too. We tried to learn it but it was difficult, but even though it was scrolling on the screen at the live event, most people did NOT say it, even though we at least did the action he had asked for.
Also there was this CM while we were waiting which was a “soudan line” or like an advice line from chaos-sama and you could ask for his advice from your phone. Of course most people had left their stuff in the lockers outside. Anyways during the first MC of the show after the first 2 songs, Chaos-sama started answering some of those messages but there were TOTALLY RUDE people in the audience that interrupted him saying “So long!” and whatnot which again really made the atmosphere bad. Even during one of them, he was trying to introduce the next song while giving the advice but those rude people totally fucked it up. I wonder if they are even going to put this on the DVD. Haderu-sama really looked pissed and most of the members too actually. (-_-)
Highlights:
- The effects! The stage was much bigger and they used a set of stairs in the back. There was a transparent-whitish screen at the top of that with real-size giant cardboard pictures of all the members behind it in the Noroshi outfits. They showed various small TV-Informercials on them between the time people went in until they started. Only Sakura-sama, Hideki-sama, Ediee-sama and Chaos-sama appeared in them but it was totally hilarious! XD
- The beginning! We could already pretty much tell that they would probably emerge from where the cardboards were but still it was really amazing how in like 5 seconds the screen turned bright white and then clear again and there they were looking as hot as ever!!! ^_^
- Chaos-sama's advice line! Come on... the idea by itself was brilliant!!
- Hideki-sama totally STARING at me for a good part of the first main MC. I was third row and for some reason the girls in front of me were so small my head was way above them and I could see him very clearly, and he was staring right back A LOT. (0_0); I was so flustered that I would look down, look back up at Haderu-sama, shift back to Hideki-sama to see he was still looking at me. I made that traingular motion A LOT! I'm thinking it may have been because he had read my letter already? (Sooooo embarassing)
- Haderu-sama talking to everyone before "Hana". He was saying how even after three years of working hard, they are still not recognized as being a serious visual-kei band and was quite emotional into his speech, saying how hard they work and how much effort they put into it and still a lot of people refuse to acknowledge that because they are comedians. He was teary and I have to admit, both Laura and I were.
When he sang "Hana" after that, both Laura and I were crying while singing along and to me, although I cannot say a 100% since it was darker than most other songs, it looked like he was looking at us a lot while singing.
- Special Guest: ムック達郎 He was the main vocals for "Kills" and Haderu-sama and Hideki-sama were in the back dancing. ^_^
And I'll stop here for this one since there were a lot of things, but none of them are worth mentioning at the moment. Laura please add any thing you can think of I might have forgotten! XD
The bit about Nibunnogo's live talk is in the following link!! ^_^
Nibunnogo gave me love!!! ^_^
