I've been out of the loop for a while but reading some human news alongside the financial ones is very refreshing.

http://www.cnn.com/2009/LIVING/03/12/craigslist.economy/index.html - there's a Russian proverb that can be translated as «Don't swear off of beggary and jail» (a similar English one is «Never say 'never'»). It shouldn't be forgotten in my opinion.
