I am not at all religious (spiritual, if anything), but right now, I'm finding myself praying for the people in New Orleans & the Gulf Region. (In case you haven't heard, a category 4 or 5 hurricane is supposed to hit the region tomorrow or Tuesday--AGAIN.)
God/The Universe/FSM/Whatever, please help them.
I'm so afraid that it's going to be even worse than 2006. How can it not be? More people are much poorer, the infrastructure hasn't been rebuilt.. they're not even going to have any services at all for people who stay behind/can't get out in time (they at least had a few last time, this time they're not even trying)! Cynical and shitty as it may be, I can only hope that that the election and concern for public opinion will get politicians to mobilize as many resources as possible (in New Orleans anyway).
