Blah.
Yep, so, I just got home after two glorious days in Rhode Island with Cait and Ashley. We had a fantastic time surviving on Taco Bell and D'Angelo's, taking pictures with dinosaurs, playing at the beach, and rocking out to Journey. I'll add more later, along with some pictures, but right now I am exhausted.
I had my appointment today with the oral surgeon to check out my jaw. Apparently there's a disc of cartilage that sits between where your lower jaw connects to the top part. When you open and shut your mouth, the disc is supposed to move with the joint. When my jaw first started clicking, about eight years ago, it was most likely that disc sliding out of place, and then back in. When the clicking stops, which mine did about two years ago, it usually means that the disc has slid all the way out from in between, and its not going back in. In addition I found out that women can open their mouth an average of 40 mm, but my mouth can currently open only 30 mm, which is fun.
So the first move in the attempt to fix my jaw--and here's the fun part--is that for the next two weeks I am supposed to:
1. take Advil for the pain, which I was already doing
2. apply heat 3-4 times a day
3. when I yawn or laugh I am supposed to hold my mouth shut

and finally, and this is the most amazing one of all:
4. I can't eat anything that I would need to do aka my diet for the next two weeks is going to consist of baby food, yogurt, ensure, and oatmeal

I can't even begin to explain how excited I am to not eat solid food for two weeks. I mean, its not like I weigh too little already and have been working to try and GAIN weight. Oh wait, I really don't weigh enough and I really have been trying to gain more weight. Not eating solid food is definitely the way to go if I'm trying to bulk up. Grrrr. Two weeks without delicious breakfast sandwiches from Dunkin' Donuts. Stupid jaw.
After the two weeks I get to go back to the doctor to see if my jaw is any better, and if its not I get an MRI to see where the disc actually is. After that, I have no idea what happens.

That's the update for now. If anyone can think of any other not solid foods that I can "eat" or drink, feel free to pass along your suggestions. I'll just inform you now though, that mashed potatoes are not an option, because merely typing those two words together make me queasy.

And now, I am going to watch some CSI, finish my banana baby food, and probably pass out for a little bit.

Peace.
