Yes, It's true. We are "grass-roots" in the fact that our schools have no funding! We get the money from the state, and somehow it just MAGICALLY disappears..hmm..
Earlier in the year, Priscilla Schrieber (another board member) stated publicly that she wants to take the ban on harassment based on sexual orientation OUT of the discrimination code. I could MAYBE understand ( understand, not agree with) her wanting to keep it from becoming a part of the code, but she actually wanted to have it removed. She claimed it was not the same as race or religion, in that your sexual orientation is something that you have control over. That's right, she claimed that you don't have control over your religion. Taking that out of the code would be just as bad as coming out and advocating the harrasment of any LBGT student. How very..."interesting"...
I hate our school board. I hate it with the fiery passion of a thousand burning suns! Yes, I'm leaving it in 3 weeks, but still, all of the new changes are ridiculous and unfair, and they still greatly upset me.
