This is the first day of your new life:
OK, it's my birthday today. I shall be starting the proceedings by recovering from a mild hangover. Fortunately, I awoke to find someone had bought me the cure; more alcohol, nice.

So, things ... Well, I've been spending some time recently visiting my sick great Uncle in hospital. He's in the Royal London which is a bit of a trek for the rest of my family. So, I've taken it upon myself to keep him topped up with grapes and chocolates etc. To be honest, I'm finding it all a little depressing. Being in hospital is the last place you want to be if you're sick. The poor guy is surrounded by people dieing, slowly ... I'm also worried about touching anything, in case I catch a flesh eating disease. Again, I'm glad I'm only there for an hour a day :-/

It's about time I had a mid life crisis. Thinking about it, it's no wonder people have them. One minute you're young, people fancy you, and there's a career ahead of you. The next, well ... you're kinda of there, but maybe not quite. I've already gone and bought the motorbike, the Mrs X won't allow me to pick up young girls (which would be tricky anyway, as few fancy the mid-life-crisis-man) and I really can't be bothered to fly off to Nepal to find myself. I think I'll just settle for that bottle of wine my housemates bought me :-)

This is the first year in 10 that I've completely missed the bi-annual pilgrimage to Whitby. This also means I've not done the obligatory Whitby diet. Instead I've tried over the course of the year to be a little more healthy generally. I've all but cut out pizza, meat, beer etc. Instead of crisps at work I eat fruit, which is rather nice. In fact, I'm eating fresh pineapple as I type this and yes, the keyboard is getting sticky ;-/ I've been swimming up to 4 times a week during my lunch hours. This is really a rather nice way to spend lunch, when most people have a sandwich in front of their pc. I've also been out running in the mornings, although not today ...

Upcoming gigs:
  • Foo Fighters - O2, a rather expensive way to watch a video screen, as I'm somewhere near the back. It has to be done though :-)
  • Interpol
  • Covenant
  • Gossip - Yes, I'm going to see a fat, hairy lesbian. I kinda wish I was taking pics, but I'm just a punter
  • VNV Nation - are there still tix available?

  • [UPDATE] Someone stole my lid
