This weekend I have been race happy.
I ran the Tigertown 5000 on Saturday. I finished 32nd in 19:32. I was 5th in my age group (30-34). I did okay I thought. Even though I didn't blast out with everyone and I did catch a bunch of people, I still died at the 2 mile and coasted in for the last mile. I did have a good sprint for the last 300 meters or so. I managed to pass a few people I let go by me in the last mile. I was pleased based on my lack of training lately.
Afterwards there was a party at the race director's house. His son ran at the same college I went to so I was invited. I only knew one person who was my teammate from college, but he helped introduce me to the others on the team.
On the way home I got to see the development of US-24 freeway going through the countryside. Ohio is building this as a quick way to get to Ft. Wayne and also to prevent all the deaths along the current US-24.

This morning I decided even with the blood blister on my right foot I was still going to run the Farenheit 421 race at Owens Community College. I work there so I should have been there. I finished 7th in the race, 2nd in my age group (30-34). I ran 19:56 I believe. It was okay. I went out faster than yesterday and ended up dying about half-way through the race. Then I just coasted as people went by me. Towards the last 300 I just gutted out a late charge from this cute older man and I just powered through to the end, passing a few people.
I can make a lot of excuses but I would rather say I am proud of myself to maintain it in both races. I want to do both next year, and I plan on being better for next year.
