PUMPKING SPICE EVERYTHING

Sep 13, 2016 10:37

It’s still technically summer, and I’m in no rush to leave the bright sunshine and extended daylight, but I am also so very excited for fall!

Autumn is my favorite season, Halloween is one of my favorite holidays and my birthday is at the end of October. I love everything about fall; the crisp, cool air, autumn bike rides, the leaves changing colors, all the squash and warming spices, apple picking… the list goes on.

This might be a bit premature but I am already thinking about Halloween costumes. I have Mondays off and while Forrest and I have no parties to attend or concrete plans for the day, I can’t wait to dress up!

I’m torn between a couple of ideas for costumes and thought perhaps my flist could help.

Option 1: Something Star Wars inspired.

For this I am thinking either Chewbacca, my favorite character or a kind of Kylo Ren/Hux mash up. Like dressed sort of like Kylo Ren but with a “I <3 Hux” shirt or dressing like Hux with a “I <3 Kylo” shirt. Hehe, I don’t know!

Option 2: Harry Potter inspired (of course)

My main idea of this is Draco Malfoy (again, of course) but I was thinking of being sixth year Draco right after he is hit with the sectumsempra curse, so torn ripped button up that is all bloody along with the usual Slytherin outfit.

Bonus Option 3: Spartacus Inspired (gracerene, I know you’ll get this!)

So this idea I had a few years back while this show was still on air/popular. Even then I wasn’t sure that people would actually get/understand the costume but as much fun as it is to be recognized, I also feel like one should wear whatever they want, no matter how obscure.

WARNING, SPOILER FOR THE TV SHOW SPARTACUS BELOW

So at the end of season 3, Lucretia helps her frenemy, Illythia, give birth to her son and then in a fit of madness (that was there all along), takes the child and jumps off her old Ludus’ side balcony, proclaiming she will join her husband in the afterlife with the child that she lost at the end of season 1. It was a super striking and haunting scene and I have this idea of having a roman dress like the one she wore, hair styled somewhat the same (I suck at hair) and the dress all bloodied as I carry a bundle around. Er, If I can find a photo I will insert it if anyone is curious.

What are your thoughts? Any suggestions or tips/hints? What are your Halloween plans?
