Encounters After Dark
X had finished up his paperwork for the evening and had decided to swing by the Nexus to avoid any more paperwork. There was a large transfer of personnel being worked out now that a new Hunter complex had been established in Canada. There was far more paperwork than usual and everyone and their cousin seemed to be trying to foist it off onto others. X had no intention of being anywhere near available to be cornered into doing more.
However, his timing for a Nexus visit was unluckier than usual. The Nexus was in the middle of being gassed. X hadn't stuck around long enough to find out exactly what was going on. He just hoped he'd managed to avoid whatever effects it would have.
In his rush to get out of the Nexus, he'd hit the wrong button and instead of PINpointing directly into his quarters, he'd ended up several floors and a building wing off target. X found himself in an empty hallway near the R&D labs. In fact, as he got his bearings, he realized he wasn't far from Alia's research lab.
He quickly checked himself over for any adverse effects, but there seemed to be nothing wrong. X breathed a sigh of relief, it seems he'd dodged the bullet - or so he thought.
