In honor of weddingplans

EDIT: put the location where the wedding reception was held- I think that makes the most sense for this poll.

Poll wedding cost

of course, don't fill out the poll if it offends you, I know money is a touchy subject with some people...

If we got married in a different region than where we actually live, how do we answer the second question?

I put "Southwest" as my location, because that's where I was when we had the wedding, I moved to Canada right after.

I DID go to Vegas baby, and we used our "wedding money" to put a HUGE downpayment on a house. LOL. If you want to spend big bucks for a wedding, go for it. But if you're living in an apartment forever because of it... oh well :P

I think the people who plan for a wedding and not a marriage need to seriously re-examin their priorties. By this I mean people who put themselves in serious debt for that one day. I mean, if a couple has the money to spare, why not shell out the big bucks for the fancy ceremony. But for those who don't have the money, why not put that $30 grand down as a down payment on a house or buy a car or be practical about things?

Then again, I got married in the magistrate's office off of the county jail because my husband was deploying in a week :). Possibly, I'm just bitter, oh quite possibly.

I agree with you. If we didnt have money for our house (which we did) we would not have had the wedding when we did-- we would have saved more. A wedding should not put one in debt.... but if you can swing it, I dont see anything wrong in having the big fancy wedding.

I totally agree. The marriage is the most important part to pay for. Then again, if you have the money and want to spend it on a wedding, why not?

Just out of curiousity, why did you have to get married before he left on deployment? I'd hate to look back and regret how I was married.

Maybe that's why people who haven't got a lot of money spend big anyway on their weddings: so they don't regret it? Who are you to say whether someone has their priorities straight? Who cares if people want to spend big on their weddings, regardless of whether or not they're heaps rich.
