Greetings from Wisconsin! PART ONE

Apr 05, 2006 12:33

Ok so I said I would write more when I had the time and today is my day off, so I figure what better time? So, I am in fact living in Wisconsin right now, since December 2005. It definitely has been a culture shock like you wouldn't believe. It is so different here. From the weird laws, to the extremely weird people. Haha Like you HAVE to drive on the right hand side of the freeway (or the call it the interstate) unless you are passing. It's actually the law. And you can smoke inside places here. Like all the bars and some restaurants. But speaking of smoking, I quit! I know it's hard to believe, but yup! 11 years of smoking down the drain! It's been about 2 months since I've smoked. And I highly recommend it! I feel so much better now!

Well, I'm living with my sister out here. We have a two-story townhouse in a little town called Tomah. It's by Fort McCoy, where she is stationed at. I love our house. My sister said "it's the only chance we get to live like rock stars!", so she kind of went all out on what she bought for the house. Like for example, our 37in Flat Screen LCD TV, our treadmill, and the brand new laptop computer. And I love my room! I have a huge room with a queen size bed, and my own flat screen TV and stereo system. I sound like I'm bragging, but honestly, I don't mean to, I'm just really happy to finally get to live like this, after the shitty apartment I had to live in for about 8 months.

A lot of crazy things have happened since I've lived out here too. I've almost been arrested. When I first got here, my sister was taking me to all the bars and stuff, like on New Years and for my birthday. And since I am of course only 20 years old, I was using her California drivers license, and then she would just wait, and come in the bar like 10 minutes after me and use her military ID. Well it was working fine for like 2 months. We were going out all the time to all the bars in all the little towns and stuff. It was so fun being able to do that underage and not getting caught. Well my luck eventually ran out. My sister and I went to a club on post one night, called McCoys. It's a really popular club spot where all the military hangs out, so you know...waaaaay more military men than women! So I was super excited to meet some cute Army guys and have a few drinks. Well the thing was that my sister, just the day before, had her California drivers license taken away for a DUI. So this was our first night out where we were just going to try and sneak me drinks all night. Well for the first hour, it was working out just fine. But one of the bartenders had been keeping a close eye on me the whole night and finally waited for me to take one more sip of my beer, and then he pounced. Well I had to be hand-cuffed and taken to the backroom of this club and I had to talk to the manager. Well after about 10 minutes of interrogation, the want to talk to my sister. So they go get here while I wait there about to shit my pants. She comes in, they talk to her, and finally tell us, either we leave now, calmly and quickly, or they bring the cops right now and take me to jail. Well obviously we had no problem leaving right away after that. So ever since that, I just drink at home and at parties. It's a lot more safe that way.

I have LOADS more to write but I should probably do some cleaning while I have the day off from work. So look for part 2! I miss everyone!
