First, HOTS it is educational method, not a theory. After that, separated by comma, they list "critical thinking skills" alone.

And according to fellow republicans whatever they oppose to is challenging the student’s fixed beliefs - which is synonym for critical thinking skills.

So, no matter how you read it - they do oppose teaching of critical thinking skills.

М-да, умением четко выражать мысли их явно обделили! Я перечитала ещё раз и между строк мне спросоня приглючилось совсем другое: они хотят учить голым фактам, а воспитанием и выплетанием правильных косичек из мозговых извилин пусть занимаются не школы, а родители, каждый по своему разумению и желанию. Методология мышления сама по себе не впихивается в голову, а только с нагрузкой из идеологии, например, вера в силу разума :) или вера в то, что некоторые вещи лучше не подвергать анализу, не говоря уже о вере в уникальность каждой человеческой личности, или вере в важную роль интуитивных оценок "хорошо", "красиво", "нравственно" и т.д...
