okay so its valentines day

i can understand why alot of people hate the holiday because i used to hate it more than anything. Except for when i was still in 3rd grade and everyone gave everyone a card with candy and of course you had that secret valentine you picked out of a hat.  Back then those were probably the most fun times of valentines day.  The biggest problem you had to worry about was which valentines cards were the coolest, the barbie ones or the scooby doo ones? The holiday does take its toll now on those who don't have a loved one to share it with.  Even people who do have someone seem to complain about the holiday.  Despite having someone special to share the holiday with, I always had my mom and sister to look forward to celebrating with.  We would always exchange presents and they were not big presents but they got the point across.  Yes, valentines day is a holiday that was created just to waste more money and so that companies like hallmark could become wealthier.  But, didn't you ever stop and think that maybe it doesn't always have to be a holiday you celebrate if you have a boyfriend, girlfriend, husband, wife, significant other, or whatever.  It's a holiday you should spend telling the people in your life that you love them including your friends and siblings or maybe even your parents.  I know that i love my friends more than any person i have dated.  People really need to remember the people that are in their lives that love them in return too and maybe who they don't say it to that often.  I guess what i'm trying to get at is that whether you have a significant other or not, don't forget about the ones in your life that have been there from the start who have loved you unconditionally and supported you.  Those are the people that you should be celebrating on Valentines Day.
