in May I got to visit New York City! I hadn't been for a while and this time it was for a massive, global Lindy Hop event.
Frankie100 took over NYC with over 2000 dancers from all over the world meeting up to celebrate Frankie Manning, the father of Lindy Hop, and his legacy. we danced a lot, I did a bit of sight-seeing and I got to hang out with friends from all over!
waaaaay more photos are available on my facebook page as well as my
instagram on my flight alone there was about 10 toronto dancers all heading down to NYC (there was easily over 100 people from toronto at this event - tons!) we landed, checked into our awesome hotel and hung out with macklemore (...in an elevator - don't worry, we played it cool.) we walked around through central park and times square and did some fun touristy stuff.
the rest of the trip was spent dancing, going to shows (I had box seats at the apollo theatre! I also saw maximo park [one of my favourite bands, this was a non-dance activity]), hanging out with friends, exploring NYC and celebrating frankie :) I volunteered at the event so it was so nice to see the fruits of our labour since January finally being reaped!
