I am back from Oaxaca, Mexico!!

It was such an amazing experience.  We were nonstop busy every single day of the trip.  The week days were full of going to school, teaching, and then seminars in the evenings, and the weekends were our excursions.  Most of our excursions we chose to go on, filling up every single day, instead of giving us a day off.  We hiked in the mountains of Cuajimaloyas, visited a natural spring, saw the Zapotec ruins of Monte Albon, and the largest tree in the western hemisphere, as well as learning how to make wool textiles and wood carvings known as alebrijes.

The school was the best part, as well as it should be since that is the reason I went.  My teacher that we observed with was HOTT. haha His name was Ruben and I pictured him in my head as this old, beer-bellied, man with a mustache.  I was way off, he was so sexy and young! It was his second year teaching.  However, he had no sense of classroom management at alllll.  If anything, I learned that routines and procedures are a MUST when it comes to teaching.  The kids were out of control.  Yet, they were so cute at the same time.  I have never been a kid person, I'm not like a ho-hum-lets-sing-a-song kind of person ha, it was really a challenge for me to be that way! Especially since the girl I shared the class with was really good at that, but let's face it, she is the one majoring in elementary ed, remember I'm k-12.   but these kids were cute! I cared about them a lot and I never thought I would feel that way about elementary at all.  Leaving the school was the saddest thing, I didn't think I would cry at all, but when the kids started getting upset, I also felt upset and couldn't help but let a few tears out.

Mexico is a such a different culture.  Everything is so fresh! If you wanted orange juice, they squeezed that orange right there in the kitchen.  If you wanted guacamole, it was whipped up right there.  I have never like guacamole, but Mexico made me a huge fan!  The other best thing about Mexico is how laid back it is.  No one is rushing around (unless its work related).  Everyone just comes when they can or leaves when they want.  The people there were so incredibly nice, and happy and just celebrated everything it seemed.

I don't know, I think Mexico has a certain charm to it....I might have to visit again...someday.

Now, I'm just adjusting to being back at home! I started up back at work yesterday.  I didn't work today and realized how awful my life would be if I didn't have a job because I would die of boredom.  I really don't have many friends at home, maybe like one or two.  Therefore, I'm usually doing just about nothing...or trying to lay outside (it has been too hot lately) or reading, or sitting on the computer.  I am starting to work-out again which is a MUST and a good thing.

Ah well, I'm going to try to keep enjoying the summer!
