The Sorting Hat

Here is my entry for the Sorting Hat challenge at landofart, in which we sorted two fandom characters into Hogwarts houses. I chose Patrick Bateman from American Psycho and Tintin from The Adventures of Tintin. Images and descriptions are below the cuts.

PATRICK BATEMAN
Slytherin

I sorted Patrick Bateman into Slytherin house. Traditionally, Slytherins have loathed muggle-born witches and wizards, valuing those with pure blood. Similarly, Patrick Bateman hates anyone he feels is below him, namely lower class people and women. He treats them with cruelty, even going so far as to kill them if the opportunity arises. Patrick Bateman shares another key trait with his fellow Slytherins, his self-serving nature. Bateman embodies the selfishness and hedonism of the 1980's and truly uses any means necessary to achieve his ends, including brutal murder and dismemberment. Jealous of colleague Paul Allen, Bateman lures him back to his apartment after the two have dinner and murders him, thereby satisfying his rage and eliminating his competitor.

TINTIN
Hufflepuff + Gryffindor = Gryffinpuff? Huffledor?

I sorted Tintin into both Hufflepuff and Gryffindor houses. I felt he has enough traits from both houses to warrant a dual sorting. Tintin is extrememly loyal to his friends, putting his own life in danger to keep them out of harm's way. He also "fights the good fight" during his many adventures, helping bring villains and other baddies to justice. In spite of all of this, he never draws attention to himself as a hero, a modesty that is valued in Hufflepuff. And like any Gryffindor worth his salt, Tintin is not afraid to risk his life for the greater good, or to save someone from harm. He is brave, daring, but always polite, all characteristics that are prized in Gryffindor.
