Hot dogs. Never again. Ever. And pizza is iffy.
After
her excursion in New York, Lois suffered the ills of one who has eaten very healthy for months and tried to return to her old eating habits. Three hours of sickness remniscent of her first few weeks of pregnancy has her convinced she needs to stay away from anything she ate in the past day, most especially hot dogs with chili. The pizza is guilty by association.
A day later, back on solid food - granola and yogurt, and she wanted it - Lois catches her reflection in the mirror moments after emerging from her shower.
"Ugh, I'm fat," she mutters, running a hand over the curve of her stomach and turning sideways to regard her profile. And then something else catches her eye, something in the mirror: a framed photograph of Lois, Clark, and the Kents during the visit when they told Ma and Pa of the pregnancy. Lois herself looked less than happy, because back then she had morning and afternoon sickness, but the Kents, all three of them, were smiling radiantly.
Lois looks down at her stomach, and inside it the baby nudges her. Probably time for juice.
Yesterday she took it on herself to leave the safety of the Brownstone because she'd had enough. That famous hellcat Lane temper had finally reared its ugly head. As a result, she jeopardized her safety, her baby's safety, and her relationships with people who have turned their lives upside down to take care of the new Last Son of Krypton. All because she was tired of being cooped up. No wonder people think she doesn't want the baby. No wonder Mid-Nite looks sleepless and Clark is probably stressed as hell, as if being Superman isn't stress enough.
Lois might be stubborn and tempermental and often the most difficult person on the East Coast, but she knows how to learn from her mistakes. That afternoon, a basket of health food is delivered to the Brownstone for Dr. Mid-Nite and a large arrangement arrives at the Daily Planet's newroom for Clark Kent. Both are accompanied by simple notes: to Mid-Nite, I'm sorry; to Clark, I love you and this baby.
She can definitely learn.
