arghhh

shishi, i feel your cooking disaster pains :D
i tried to make a layer cake. a fudge layer cake, that is. i creamed the shortening and sugar, added everything in the right proportions, melted the chocolate, yadda yadda....the batter tasted good....put it in the pans....in the oven, which was preheated :D not that i haven't forgotten that before :D
despite my timer failing to work, i still got the cakes out when they were done and before they were overdone, and even made butter cream frosting that actually worked out....despite never making a cake or frosting before.

then i tried to take the cake layers out of the pans :( *suspenseful...and disastrous-sounding...music*
they wouldn't come out. so my mom wisely asks what i used to grease the pans with:

mom: "what did you grease the pans with?"
me: "what do you mean?" i should have realized something was wrong here....
mom: "grease the pans? you know?"
me: "but....but...it didnt say to grease the pans!!"
mom: "?? they probably assumed you would grease the pans..."
me: "ohhhhhh.... :( :( :( drat.... :( :( :( :( "
mom (looking at recipe in cookbook): "at the beginning of the recipe: 'butter three cake pans'...*smirk*"
me: "oh nooooo.... i didn't notice that :( " it was so perfect before.... alas....
mom (attempting to scrape around edge of one of the cakes to get it out): hehe....don't worry, it will still taste good. it doesn't matter what it looks like, right?? you can just frost it in the pans. don't worry about it.
me (shaking pan upside down in frustration to loosen up other cake): "nooooooo..........."

the cake proceeded to fall into pieces from the pan onto the cooling rack, at which point i gave up, frosted them in the pans they were cooked in, and wrote "IMAGINE THIS..." on the first one in chocolate chips, and "ON TOP OF THIS" on the second in cocoa with a stencil....
so it tastes good, looks bad.
bleh. i was expecting a two layer cake with the cool line of frosting in the middle of all the slices :D oh well.

its all good :D

except that the cake pans were NON-STICK, so you'd think in a NON-STICK pan the cakes WOULDN'T STICK, but no.... you have to /grease/ the pans to make them non-stick :D

but, still, life goes on :D

life is good :D i still must read dante and boccaccio. like half the sophomores :D
