san vincente, mexico, post two.
hello from mexico!
so what's happened today?
meghan, ali and i go on a long long walk down the beach. ENDLESS beach and pristine and empty and full of life. there's starfish and ananomes (?) and mussels and everything out there. after two hours or so we hitch a ride back with some locals in their little car that they have to push to start, the road's terrible! but they take us back to town. we pick up some local wine and food for dinner, and then! we're starting back down the road to our hostel and this mess of guys on motorcycles are stopped a ways down, they wave us over and offer us a ride. so we all pack up our bags over our shoulders and hop on some motorcycles and head back down the road towards our hostel, and this road is way up high above the ocean and gorgeous like you wouldn't believe. we stop at the local fish market and pick up some fresh red snapper for dinner.
that's about to happen - we're feasting on that fish, and mussels we collected ourselves, grilled mango and pineapple, packets of vegetables, fresh avacado, it's all on the barbeque and almost ready to go.
oh, it's been so nice here. the beach is just amazing and there's sanddollars everywhere. there's been fires and drinks and hot baths and our dorm room looks right out onto the ocean. the sunset tonight was magic. i think we're playing poker tonight, all of us, eight of us met up in the last town i was in and we came in together.
what now? tomorrow night we'll be back in san diego for one more night. and then! i met this awesome guy from san francisco here and he's got friends back home that he says will happily take us in. megs is headed back to mexico for her new teaching job, ali and i are going to spend a couple of nights in san francisco! then to portland for a few days where i'm visiting my friend yoav, who's out there at a farming community where i can stay too, and back home around the 18th. if all goes well on the 21st i'm in merrit, bc, for this ten day meditation retreat, and then life's back to normal.
okay, i have to go! i'm being called, we're serving up food!
