Horrible Timing..

I sighed as I watched Willow and Oz exit the library. I wondered would we ever get the Willow that we loved back? I don't know if that is a possibility anymore. I do know that one thing is for certain, we had to make her feel as cared for as possible. I just wished that was all I had to be concerned about now ( Read more... )

After what was a rather interesting night with Faith, I was now going to the school library. Her slaying methods a little crass, but most effective, her fighting style, more that of a kickboxer, or just a normal pugilist with superpowers, then of a blend of the martial arts.

We had Chinese food and then she was purported to be going home, only after I left her, I got the distinct impression that she might be going back out, and while a cautious slayer was a good slayer, I liked her dedication to her calling.

I walked the halls of the school, ready to tell Rupert Giles the way that things were to be now.

I pushed the doors in, sharply dressed, and adjusted my suit as I walked over to him, a tall man, as he appeared already perturbed with me.

I sighed, knowing full well who this person standing before me was.

"Bloody hell"

I muttered as I gathered myself the knot still evidant on my head from where Buffy punched me.

"I am to assume you are looking for me?"

"Why yes. I'm Wesley Wyndham-Pryce, from the watchers council in London, and you, are Rupert Giles."

I looked at him, confident, smug, knowledged that he had been sacked and that I was here to righ the ship, with both Faith and now Buffy Summers.

"If you could, I would like to see your diaries concerning Buffy Summers, starting with your first entry and if possible, those of Miss Lehane as well."

I wanted to start there and not get into details of his sacking. I took my glasses off happily and polished them with my hanky.

"I believe we can wait on that matter, first I need a guarantee that you are who you say you are."

I said, stalling as well as loving being difficult. Why should I help him in anyway?

"I am who I say I am?"

I looked at him for a moment. "Oh, yes, right, you want verification that I'm not some quack pretending to work for the watcher's council, yes."

I pulled out my wallet and showed him my council identification card.

"If you want further verification, you can call Quentin Travers, or speak to Faith. A delightful girl, really, quite spirited, but very adamant with her dislike of vampires."

I sighed and walked over to the phone and dialed Quentin's number. Finally managing to contact him I talk with him briefly, however he was under the impression I was calling to question some decision. I looked to this Wesley ponce with confusion.

"Fine, I will ask him"

I said and then I hung up muttering few choice words about Quentin.

"Fine fine, what is it you have to tell me?"

I looked at him with confusion. I was quite sure that he already knew, although it would be just like Quentin to not tell him, as to give me the responsibility to see if I had the medal to do it, but it was also a contradiction to Quentin's track record. He was famous for making command decisions and sharing those choices with whom they concerned.

"I'm here to tell you that I want all of your files on Buffy Summers and Faith Lehane, and that you should desist from your duties as Buffy's watcher, Mr. Giles, and not interfere with my orders, or there will be consequences that are ..I would say quite dire."

I looked at him, standing firm. It was obvious that he didn't like me, but it was not my fault that he had been sacked. He had only himself to blame.

"I don't know what you have been drinking with your tea, but I will not leave you to care for Buffy, you have no idea what you are in for here."

I said firmly, he thought I would leave him in control, fat chance.

Ahh, defiance and an utter disregard for the agenda of the council. No wonder he was sacked.

"That is not up for you to decide, Mr. Giles. That decision has been made by other who hold influence upon your future and if you insist on being negligent with thet course of either slayers, then I feel that I should be making a call to Quentin and see what the Council thinks of you intervening on their, and my affairs."

I had expected this. Quentin had warned me that Mr. Giles had broken one of the cardinal rules and had become too attached to his slayer.

I would not be making that same mistake, and I wouldn't have him interfering in my duties.

"Do what you feel necessary, I will not abandon Buffy Summers"

I said firmly as I returned to my office gathering what he requested. I had managed to make sure none of it was incriminating, I don't know who this Faith is that he is speaking of, but no matter, I was not letting him have control of the girls alone.

I smiled and put my hands together at my waist, folding them.

"Very well, Mr. Giles. That i a decision that you can make without interfering in the council. The Council did not expect that you would abandon your post as librarian or abandon Buffy Summers."

I shifted, moving slightly closer to him, to exude influence.

"As long as you are clear that you are not Buffy Summers' watcher and I that indeed, I am."

"You will have a challenge of convincing her of that"

I said with slight amusement.

"If you can do that then I say have at it, though you havent seen a good fight, I can tell. I am certain you wouldn't know what to do if I vampire were to attack and you know it"

I smiled at his attempts to intimidate me.

"Very classy, Mr. Giles. I can see how the Council's assessment that you have become too American can be understood. Do you also watch John Wayne movies and go to cockfights on the weekends?"

I smiled smugly at him.

"As for me, I have actually faced two vampires before. Under controlled circumstances, of course, but I can assure that I am equal to the task."

"I am certain you won't have any problem here that is for sure"

I said with a smile on my face.

"Though you won't be able to find any here."

I gave him an odd look, thinkin that he as very much trying to either confuse me, frighten mr or both.

"I won't find any of what here? Vampires?"

I looked at him, finding that to be very odd as he turned to me with an annoyed look on his face.
