Whoa whoa whoa. what, now?
-graduated a week from tomorrow
-did not achieve final semester of straight A's like I wanted, but I think 4 semesters of 2 A's and 2 B's is acceptable. getting an A on my thesis was nice, too. needless to say, i am surprised and pleased with my graceful, if not grumpy, exit from academia.
-interviewed for a job as a library assistant at a public library in jacksonville, arkasas (15 minute commute from Little Rock) and got a call back 2 days later with a job offer. sweeeeet. i'll be making 22K which is more than either of my parents ever made in a year, so i guess when my student loans kick in 6 months from now, they will actually represent some vertical socioeconomic movement. plus, i get a nice 9-5 with benefits, etc.
-max got an equally sweet job working for the government in little rock, which means we are offically members of the lower middle class!
-we're moving to little rock next week.
-but not before a week off from the crappy-ass service industry jobs. within said week, i will go camping at devil's den, see the thermals in little rock, and attend Whitney Camp's much awaited wedding where max, ada, and i will camp outside the family cabin for the evening and drunkenly heckle old high school friends.
-getting a new cat (#2) in two weeks
-i had to turn down two higher paying jobs (one as a secretary for the arkansas department of education) so that I can do this librarian thing. it's an opportunity to figure out if librarianship really is what i want to do. trial by fire is a more realistic way to say that, though--being a public librarian is a notoriously stressful, thankless, and frusterating form of public service. good thing i'm still young and vulnerable.
