Harry was leaning against the stone walls of the Gryffindor Common roon, gazing out the window. He closed his eyes and breathed deeply, glad to be back at Hogwarts and to have a moment to himself ( Read more... )

((ooc: B/c Harry see's Ron alot already.... and that was the only way I could choose. AND no one has been replying to this, and I think the grace period is so over for me... or, in my head it is!))

"Oh, hi Harry..." Lavender said, slightly surprised, "I didn't see you there...". It was certainly strange, having those three back. She had gotten used to them being absent... but she was glad that they were. The tower seemed much smaller without them huddling in a corner, keeping to themselves...

No, they were great friends... they've been keeping us safe. I know they've been keeping us safe. Or atleast doing their best to do so...

She walked over and stood next to him, looking out the window to see what exactly was so interesting outside, even though he did look very spacey...

"So... how are you doing?" She asked politely. She was never too sure where she stood with Harry...

Harry smiled as Lavender's familiar face entered the common room.

"Hey, Lavender," he said. "I've been okay. Been better, but I'm alright. It's nice to be back, however long we're here."

She nodded, "It's been... quiet."

"I hope you stay longer..." for Neville... "...It's been... odd without you here."

"I hope so too. It's hard to leave, when all of our friends are here." He smiled. "But that's later on, we're here now. How has everything been? I heard that you're going out with Neville now?"

Harry thought back to Ron and Lavender's attempted relationship, hoping that it was not the same with Neville. He needed something more meaningful right now.

Ginny knew that this meeting was important in the grand scheme of things, but for some unexplainable reason, there was something more she wanted from this meeting. It was silly, she knew, but for all her bravery and sheer determination, Ginny was very much a girl. She wasn't exactly looking for approval from Harry, she didn't need it, it was just... very few people knew about Draco. Ginny wanted someone like Harry to see what she saw in Draco (although in a completely platonic way).

With nothing for it, she uttered the password to a very inebriated Fat Lady and stepped into the common room.

Almost immediately she spotted Harry talking to Lavender. He was by the window, and they didn't seem to be in deep conversation, so she took it as a cue to interrupt him. Not that she would have waited if they were having some riveting conversation, but at least she didn't have to content with niceties.

"Hi Lavender, Harry."

There was no need to be rude, after all. Then turning to face Harry, she said, "Harry, can I talk to you?"

Harry looked over as Ginny walked towards them and waved.
Despite what they had talked through Harry couldn't help but feel a small jolt in his stomach. It's exact cause he was unsure about, though.

Ginny's expression looked like whatever she wanted to tell him was important. "We'll talk more later," he told Lavender, and patted her shoulder before walking away with Ginny.

"So what's up?" he asked, genuinely curious.

She gave a small smile and walked up to her dorm, the place where she was meaning to go to before she bumped into Harry.

She knew that she was being cynical, but she couldn't help it... this was bad, bad bad, on so many levels...

Knowing that she had to tread carefully, lest Harry dismembered her boyriend, she gave him a sheepish smile, and in an equally small voice, said, "Harry... there's something I want you to know. But I have to show you. Will you trust me?"

Ginny stared at him earnestly, her bright brown eyes staring directly at his green ones. And she would need his wand too.. There was no need for ANOTHER sectumsempra episode... The thought of it still gave her the chills.

Back in the room of requirement dm_fugitive December 14 2006, 16:38:42 UTC
Draco was trying to get the room back in order for a meeting with Harry and hide the signs of his and Ginny's mini-ball. He had convinced the punch and snacks to vanish, though the room insisted on leaving him a water pitcher and some glass goblets. The couch had been transfigured into three large comfortable looking chairs that Draco arranged in a nearly circular fashion. Even with these tasks to occupy his time, the seconds ticked by very slowly. Draco's pulse was beginning to resemble a rabbit's.

He tried sitting but found he could not, so he paced in the far corner, holding his wand by his side and watching the door.

Draco froze at the sound of the door opening. He held his wand tightly by his side waiting for Harry to step safely inside the room before drawing attention to himself.

Harry watched as Ginny placed his wand in her pocket. Great, now I CANT get to it.
Harry followed Ginny into the dark room, his eyes adjusting to the lighting change. He looked around; a table with water and goblets sitting atop it, and three plush chairs arranged around each other. Heart pounding, Harry took in the rest of the room, and froze for a split second.

Draco Malfoy was waiting in the far corner, wand to his side and standing rigidly.

Harry couldn't reach for his wand, there was no way to summon it and then cast a spell before Draco took action. He had performed certain spells enough that there was a possibility of them working without a wand. Just a few years back he was able to illuminate his wand without holding it.

Harry instinctively raised his arm and, without a wand, shouted.

"EXPELLIARMUS!"

Draco dove behind the nearest chair, not fully taking in that Harry was unwanded. He stayed there for a very long millisecond, heart thudding. Okay, no Crucio. No Sectum Sempra...that was good. He realized he was still clutching his own wand, which was also good.

The first step would be calming Harry down enough to talk. Ginny would help him keep Harry in the room. If she didn't have Draco's back, the whole thing was hopeless anyway. "I'm not here to fight, Potter! I just want to talk."

Draco looked at his wand, winced, and tossed it a couple feet from the chair, so it would be visible from the door. "Okay, there. I'm unarmed."

Yes, victory! Draco thought as Harry sat down. "Well, you'd be an idiot if you trusted me right off," he admitted. "But I've been feeding you and the Order information for a little while now. You can ask Moody how I help with the werewolf capture." Draco frowned. "Then again. Does Moody know that you know about me?" This spy stuff was bloody confusing sometimes.

"I don't believe he does," Harry replied. He glanced at Ginny, hoping he could trust her to keep a secret.
"Fred and George told me. Now, I trust them to keep that a secret to those who matter, but we do have a rather well-known history, you and I."

harry sighed. "I had heard about information being passed by an informant, but at first I didn't know it was you. Even so, I don't know. I need to know that I can trust you."

Draco risked a glance at Ginny, thinking. "Okay the transmitters. Ginny has one, Hannah Abbott has one, and Slughorn has one. The fourth one hasn't been placed yet. That's what this whole snitch contest is about. Allison has no clue...he's being used."

Draco tilted his head back, not sure how that was supposed to make Harry trust him. "Oh bloody hell, Potter, if we wait for you to trust me, we'll both be grey. You don't have any veritaserum on hand, do you?" Draco scowled. "Speaking of trust where's your wand?"

Harry nodded over at Ginny. "I had to give it up," he said. "Okay, for now I'll go along with this and work with you."

Harry couldn't believe that he was about to work side by side with Draco Malfoy. Hopefully things would work out right.

"I know about the transmitters, I was told so that no sensitive information would be mentioned around them. Explain the 4th again?"

Draco sat still, letting Harry try the exercise, and trying to get past the bizarreness of Potter doing something he had told him to.

He let a few seconds pass after Potter's 'okay', and said, "Now, try opening your eyes and holding onto the fog. Don't let yourself be consciously aware of anything beyond the moment."

He really hoped this gentler approach would be key. True, Voldemort would probably be anything but gentle, but when you're teaching a child to walk, screaming at it was often counter productive. Better to let Potter get steady on his feet first.

Ginny had kept quiet throughout the entire thing for two reasons ( ... )

Draco returned Ginny's nod with a small nod of his own. He let no concern show on his face when he noticed her retreat into the corner. He wanted to curl up beside her and ask if something was wrong, but that would be a bad move right now. He wondered why Potter had not asked about Ginny's part in this but figured that Harry must have had enough clues to piece it together by now.

Even though it grated on Draco, he knew it was better not to rock the boat. Potter had quite enough of a shock for one day. Maybe he'd tell him eventually...like after Potter found a new girl, or maybe after the war.

She watched them, like a sentry, ensuring that Harry remained safe. Of course she trusted Draco, it was simply the fact that Draco didn't know Harry. Although of course, given how simple it had been, she didn't think that would be a problem anymore.

She saw Draco look her way, but she did not return the gaze nor smile. Something was stirring in her gut, making her feel ill. She was being reminded of the worried conversation her parents had, even as she starred at Harry's concentrating face.

She did not want to think about.

So she concentrated more soley on Harry. A face she knew like her own. Ginny loved Harry. But not the same way anymore. She would always love Harry, this she knew. But now Draco had taken up more spaces of her heart than she knew existed. Draco....

'Ugh, Ginevra! Stop being such a sappy girl!' she thought disgustedly.
