There are a few shows coming up in April, that are outside of Charlotte, that I would really like to attend. I am currently searching for people that may be interested in tagging along and helping with gas.

05 April, 2009
Ariel Pink
Vivian Girls
@ Local 506
Chapel Hill, NC
$10

-I haven't heard the Vivian Girls before, but I am pretty sure I have heard lots of people talking about them recently. They are, nevertheless, beside the point because Ariel Pink is the shit. Ariel Pink sounds like every type of pop music you have ever heard plus a bunch of weirdo 1970's German electronic music, stuffed into a blender, blended(duh), and spit out at 64bps. Anyone that doesn't know should check them out.

Dan Deacon
Future Islands
Teeth Mountain
@ Orange Peel
Asheville, NC
$10/12

-To be honest, I could give two shits about both Dan Deacon and Future Islands. I understand that lots of people are into Dan Deacon, and I think that is great, because it makes for better chances that someone will be interested in accompanying me. The reason I want to go to this show is because Teeth Mountain fucking RULES all. If I could compare them to any music act it would be to the 1950's folk/avant-garde musician/composer Moondog. Teeth Mountain takes Moondog's sense of minimalism and his use of drone and his repetitive, entrancing _/4 rhythms and interpret them in a heavy, climatic fashion, heavily infused with dissonance. GREAT shit.

Ken Vandermark, Ab Baars, Wilbert De Joode, Martin van Duynhoven
@701 Center for Contemporary Art
Columbia, SC

-About a week ago, I devoted an entire post to this upcomming show. It is still happening. Ken Vandermark is still a genius. You should still come with me.
