Pippin died yesterday. (I wrote Mr. pippi longstockings died, then decided it was rude to make fun of someone in their obituary, and now I've gone and said it anyway.) He was one of my oldest rats. He and Merry were born January 18, 2 years ago. In two weeks his twin brother Merry (and sister Lennie) will be two and a half, which is fairly old as rats go. He is also survived by at least 3 nephews and 6 nieces. I need to go to sleep so I can burry him at my mums later today.
The following 8 pics and commentary are mostly for my own benefit, so I won't forget about him. He was quiet and somewhat skittish, but very sweet.

His second birthday - there were party hats and oatmeal cakes!

eek, the ultra closeup. Pip had beautiful patterning on his right cheek.
mr pip rarely stood still for photos. It almost looks like he posed for this one, really he's seconds from bolting.
More of the mottled bits round the right side of his neck. I seem to not have any pics of his cheek, which resembled the markings on a dobie or rottie.
For a long time, he and Mer were all each other had. They were real close. I think even with his sons for company, Merry will miss Pippi, they always slept closest in the rattie pile.
