Anime downloaders sued in Singapore settle, disappear The two men at the heart of the first online downloading lawsuit here have backed down from contesting the suit filed against them by a group of Japanese anime studios.
One of them, Mr Koh Lian Boon, has quietly settled the case out of court; the other, Mr Felix Lukman, has returned to Indonesia without waiting to find out how much he owes the studios for downloading their creative works for free.
Neither could be reached for comment, and the terms of Mr Koh's settlement are confidential. The Straits Times understands he paid a sum of money to the studios and signed an undertaking not to download unauthorised copies of the anime works in future.
It is a shabby end for the duo who had earlier given every indication that they would fight Big Media to the end.
