Queensland man in court over cartoon child pornography.
AN IPSWICH man has admitted downloading graphic cartoon porn images featuring child characters from The Simpsons and The Powerpuff Girls TV shows.
The 28-year-old is now a registered sex offender and will have to report to police after pleading guilty in Ipswich District Court to having the bizarre images on his computer.
It is worth noting that this is the man's second charge, with his first being over possession of actual child pornography, however the fact remains that under Australian law fictional children, whether depicted in drawings or in literature, are treated the same as actual children when it comes to sexual and pornographic material. That includes comics and graphic novels and manga and fanfiction. Personally I like my characters legal, but the idea of thousands of teenagers and manga fans technically being considered sex offenders by virtue of this law doesn't sit well at all.
