Remember Lauren Lee Smith's portrayal of the telempathic Emma DeLauro in Mutant X? Well, here's a bit of role reversal.

CTV.ca is reporting that Lauren will be joining the second season main cast of the hit drama The Listener, about telepathic paramedic Toby Logan. She won't have any psionic powers this time around, though. She'll be playing Sgt. Michelle McCluskey of the Integrated Investigations Bureau, an investigator who learns to overcome her initial skepticism of Toby Logan's abilities in order to consult with him on some of the IIB's most difficult cases.

Excerpt from CTV.ca:

Smith exclusively tells CTV.ca: “I’m pretty excited. I’m very excited to be back here in Toronto. I’m looking forward to what the new season will bring. It’s a great show. All the actors are fantastic. It’s great to be back in Canada, I have to say, I came from LA to Toronto, and now I’m back on home turf.”

13 new episodes are being shot for season two in and around Toronto until February of 2011.

Smith will play Sergeant Michelle McCluskey.

In Smith, “Listener” star Olejnik says “I think we have someone who’s extraordinary. She’s a star. She’s so open and clear and ready to rock and roll, and I think she’s great at what she does. It’s very awesome to have her, she’s very professional.”
