Very tense episode! My random thoughts while watching:
Uh, why doesn’t the Druid send all those other soldiers flying, and get out of the city rather than sending the little kid into the castle??
Hey
stealingpennies - you got Kripke’d :D Gaius is so very eager to teach Merlin about healing. And Merlin’s little face when the Big Book of Anatomy gets slammed down....
Go Morgana! Poor Arthur is so easily manipulated by her. Reverse psychology! I love that the blames Merlin for being a slacker servant, but he keeps him around regardless of how badly he performs his duties. Methinks there are other reasons for his retention...
Morgana finally gets her chance to be a part of the action and... and then she gets caught by Arthur. But, still, way to take control of the narrative - she persuades Merlin to get Gaius to help them, then takes action to save the boy, stands up to Uther to the point where he physically threatens her, and then persuades Arthur to act against the King's wishes (er... again... not that it takes all that much persuading to get Arthur to do what he thinks is right)
And now we see just how far Uther can be pushed by Morgana before he snaps... Morgana’s comment last episode was prescient - Uther’s fear of magic outweighs his love for her.
*laugh* when Arthur said Merlin would have to take Morgana’s place in their plan, I was wondering if there’d be some cross-dressing involved.
OMG - Merlin! Do you break Arthur’s trust in you now in order to save his life in the future, or keep your word knowing that the consequences could be “unthinkable?” *angstyface*
Um, Arthur, I think you’re possible over-using the hunting excuse.
Gah - big gaping plot hole - how did Arthur send word to the Druids that he would be bringing the boy to them??? How would he know where they are? Who would he send to take the message?
Evil!kid is, wow, quite scary, really. That last look he gave Arthur... it said, you may have saved my life, but I will still fulfill my destiny to kill you.
Hm, interesting that most of the intrigue of this episode was accomplished without magic - with the exception of hiding the boots and stealing the keys. And I honestly think that Merlin could’ve done better to steal the keys w/o magic - e.g., when undressing Arthur (or, even better - while seducing Arthur!! Ahem, ok, that wouldn’t really happen, but in the AU version of this episode, it totally did!).
