I'm *almost* all grown up
So much has happened in *so* little time.
I know I've said this before but....WE HAVE A HOUSE!!!!!!!!!!!!
Our closing date is QUICKLY approaching - this Wednesday to be exact. We've given them until this weekend to get everything moved out (well if they need longer, we're nice and they're nice people so they'll get longer) They're waiting for their kids to come up to move the big stuff (hence the "this weekend" part)
Once they're out, we're going in, removing the doors from the kitchen cupboards. Priming the master bedroom and painting the kitchen (cupboards, walls and countertop), living room, bathroom and *OUR* bedroom. I'm *so* excited because this is *OUR* house. Not the apartment we're renting, or my mom & dad's upstairs. But *OURS*. As in our own! As in we own it! As in for keeps! The paint is all sitting in my mom & dad's basement waiting - just itching - to be applied (bought it the other week because it was on sale. Ended up saving $100.00 by buying it on sale)
We went shopping the other night for things that we still needed for our house (which to be brutally honest isn't much. Everyone has been buying us "house related" presents...Christmas, my birthday...etc. So we haven't had to spend a lot of our own money to set ourselves up. To which I'm eternally grateful to everyone). But we had to get a thermostat, a new kitchen garbage pail. A new chef's knife for myself. New pillows for our bedroom. And a toilet bowl brush (obviously had one at our apartment, but I just wasn't down with packing up the poop brush...ewwwwww)
And I can't get over how helpful everyone is - mom & dad have walked us through the mortgage, insurance, legalities...of buying a house. I will never ever be able to thank them enough. My brother's and sister have been amazing...honestly I am one helluva blessed chickie! I think I may very well have one of the best families that a girl could ask for - if not *the* best...because they are great. They're going to help us move our furniture. And mom (and I think sis & aunt) are going to help us paint the house. And even Sunny's sister has been fantastic - she went as far as to offer Sunny money if we needed it (money that she has worked *very* hard to accumulate and put away so that she can move out next semester and live where she goes to school. Something that she desperately wants to do...and to offer to just give it up - well I'll be honest. It choked me up a bit) like I said, I'm blessed. I don't know how to even begin to thank everyone for how wonderful they've been. *sighs* Wow, now I sound like a gloaty pants "my family is so great..blah blah blah" but it just blew me away how wonderful they've been.
March 9th our appliances will be in our house (and our new bedroom suite) so that's also exciting...
Tomorrow I have to go and talk to our lawyer, bring home some more stuff that has to be signed. Then it's a call to our insurance guys...talk about a form we have to fill out.
And then March 18th Di is coming for a visit - yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay. Our house will be all newly sparkly painted.
And then we're going to pick a date for everyone to come & visit - in fact if Di's down with it, we might just make it that weekend...but I'll have a chitty chat with her and see if she's down with sharing Chrissy & Sunny.
Either way - life is good right now. Not perfect (still looking for f/t work) but good. And I guess that's all you can ask for?!?! Right! We're happy, healthy and have a loving family - great friends and soon a house.
