I'm a bit hesitant to post this because I'm sure nearly all of you are quite a bit more knowledgeable about all this stuff than I am.  So please don't laugh too cruelly at my ignorance.

Thanks for the link. Do you know how the longevity/durability of 'factory renewed' electronics compares to those bought new? I'm sure it's a freak occurrence that my current CD player has lasted five years, but I'm hoping I can find something to last me at least two or three years, although I don't know how possible that is these days.

first of all I'm majorly impressed at your ability to analize the possible usefullness of technology and jealous that you can admit that you don't need it...noone really does ( ... )

I don't anticipate it taking too long to transfer my music to CDs because almost all of it's already on my computer. I'll just have to figure out how one actually makes MP3 CDs...
