Yay for another one week holiday! And I almost sort of kind of feel like I almost deserve it after such mental suffering. XDD Especially the last days were pain, because I've yet again realised that I had NOT stuck to my timetable and there was just soo much to catch up. But my lasts tests included pathetic crying onto the test paper and a kind of hysterical fit before another. (mainly due to the fact that I just couldn’t finish my Japanese composition, because nothing was coming out, and it doesn’t help that the topic I chose was my dog, which causes crying anyway, and I even contemplated not showing up for the test. I did eventually, but I decided not to finish the composition. Turns out the deadline is actually in two weeks. I could have spent the wasted time studying. Yay.) Oh, and I have turned into a slob.. but after 3 weeks or so, my very long and persistent cold seems to be getting better. :D (Maybe I can exercise again) It was also a very contagious one. My Dad, grandmother, Mum and teacher got sick as well. And now my brother is sick. (Though he didn’t get it from me. XD) One of my friends got sick, got better and got sick again. Interesting times. :D
Well.. at least there has been football keeping me sane, and fun incidents like shoegate lifting my spirits. XDD Speaking of which: Yay for Werder Bremen knocking out AC Milan(the favourites) in the UEFA Cup. :D I haven't cheered this much since Germany advanced to the finals during the Euro 2008 (Okay, it wasn't that long ago but aaanyway.. since then I've prob. watched more matches than before that(or that’s what it feels like), so...) And my Dad was happy too when I told him. (He doesn't really watch league matches, but he's for Werder Bremen. :D)
Mmm... for the Sundays game against Bayern München. Both teams with a great ego-boost after international success that was definitely needed after the recent failing on the national level It should be interesting. :D But enough about that.. I've been trying to avoid too much open football fangirling, since I internally don't do much else anyway *coughs*, but in my mini-euphoria, can’t hold back all the time. XDD
Tomorrow a group of my friends have decided to marathon through the Alfred J. Kwak series (the first season). :D which does mean that I miss football, but at least the one match I do want to see will be on TV, so I can record it. Gah. .. enough about that A great favourite when we were kids, and needs a re-watch, since it will be so different with a different mentality.
And in honour of that (and because I'll prob. not have the chance later) I decided to finally list the TOP 10 cartoons from my childhood. :D) And I drew the line: early childhood, so late eighties to early nineties. :D
Idea from
j_lawliet10. TaleSpin (1990-1991, 1992 in Finland (subbed))
Centred around some sort of air transportation/courier firm, whose job is obviously made harder by all the obstacles thrown in their way.
It's funny and action-packed with a good cast of (animal) characters. A great plus that there’s Baloo from the Jungle Book as the main character, and Shere Khan as the business tycoon kind of nemesis. :D

9. Chip 'n Dale Rescue Rangers (1989-1990, 1990- in Finland subbed)
Familiar chipmunks that have formed their own detective agency (including a few other characters), and take up impossible seeming cases. Action, adventure, and mystery. I might not be the greatest fan of the little chipmunks, but I definitely like this kind of series. :D

8. Il était une fois... la vie (1987, 1988- in Finland, dubbed)
A series that used a fun and interesting way to explain about the body. Learning can be fun. (And as a kid I really liked learning anyway... although, now I wonder if I watched a repeat or something, because I doubt I got anything as a three-year-old, especially since I didn't know any Finnish. XDD)

I got to hear some French as a kid. :D
7. Dogtanian and the Three Muskehounds(D'Artacan y los tres mosqueperros, 1981- dubbed)
About the three musketeers and d'Artagnan as dogs, and their adventures. :D
I remember watching this a lot.. and my second cousin talking about the nightmare she had of it. XDD It is quite action packed after all.. and there were real swords. :D

6. James Bond Junior (1991-1992, 1993 in Finland(subbed))
Basically it's what it sounds like: James Bond for kids. :D Teenage Bond and his (cast of colourful) friends fight against a terrorist organisation
Action, adventure, cool gadgets and stuff.. Definitely something I'd go for. :D And I also rememberit being really entertaining. :D Come to think of it.. I think this show got away with a lot of violence for a kids’ show. :D

5. Alfred J. Kwak (1989-, 1991-1992 in Finland, dubbed)
About and orphaned duck, who is raised by a mole and goes through all sorts of adventures while growing up and learning about life, society and its members.
Even as a kid, I knew that this was different and that it raised universal issues, not typical for a children's programme. I might not have been up to date about everything, but I did understand something. And learned a lot in the process(even if I don’t now remember what I learnt.). It really is a special and unique series.
Random: I have the theme song as my alarm clock. XDD (and have had it for many years. :D)

Finnish opening. :D Because I like it. :D Apparently the series was translated from German. :D
4. Captain Planet and the Planeteers(1991-1993, subbed)
Five young people form different parts over the world each possessing an element, fighting against the pollution and other natural disasters and protecting animals and what not. CAnd when things get too tough they can summon captain planet, :D I absolutely loved this “cool” series that stood for issues I felt strongly about myself.
Random fact: in high school I started writing some random story about kids with elemental rings and certain inner power (Digimon influence) fighting against evil. I didn’t know how close I was to the original. XD

And the outro(because it's different):

3. The Adventures of Tintin (Les Aventures de Tintin 1991)
One of the world’s nosiest and luckiest reporter, who along with some friends and his fox terrier Milou actively travels around the world and gets mixed up in political matters and criminal master plans while he's at it (and almost gets killed all the time). Funny that I don't remember him doing much actual reporting. XDD
I watched the English dub in the first grade, since some nice person had the eps on video and was completely enthralled. This led me to the comics(and at first I only read the comics one of my friends had, before discovering the library) I was a big fan of Tintin, both the person(smart, resourcesful and just awesome) and the series(both the comics and the cartoon), and I still can enjoy the great work. :D (Looking forward to the live action film, btw. :D)

2. Around the World with Willy Fog (La Vuelta al Mundo de Willy Fog, 1983, 1985 subbed, 1990 dubbed)
Based on Jules Verne's book with a few added characters (and altered ones) and some more action, suspense and violence to make it more interesting for kids. XDD Oh, and the characters were different animals, of course. :D (I like the fact that the police were dogs. XDD)
This was an absolutely great way to introduce kids to the book and as an adaptation, it's actually quite good. :D I think all of my friends watched this, and I also think that this was the only cartoon of which I watcged ALL of the episodes. BOTH times. :D (and that's prob,. why I remember it so well. XDD) I couldn't exactly miss a single episode, without feeling like I had missed part of the story, which is prob. the strength of the programme. It's one whole story that pulls kids into it and has one rooting for the characters to make it till the end. :D

Finnish opening. :D At least they kept most of the names. :D (I remember how my brother and I dissolved into fits of laughter at "Willy" Fog when our Mum bought us some English book based on that series. Well.. we were young. Hahah. :D)
1. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles/Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles (1987- subbed/dubbed?)
Half turtle half human(kind of) mutants (named after Italian Renaissance artists) each with their signature weapon, colour and status and with distinctive personalities battling bad guys and the arch enemy of their master using ninjutsu taught by their master/adoptive father(human-rat hybrid)... A guaranteed hit. :D I think during that time everyone was crazy about the Turtles. :D It was definitely a hype. Even my brother and I got the toys and T-shirts, although our parents mormally never bought us anything. :D They embraced the hype. :D
There are lots of version and films and whatnot, but this series is the one that I adore the most. It was the first obsession that I remember. :D

This was very catchy. :D Lots of kids were singing it. :D 8(We got the "hero" version, though. :D)
Phew. Monster post. :D
And on other things:
*-YAY FOR KANJANI8'S NEW ALBUM and boo for the extortion. XDD I'm getting only ONE version... but I don't know which, since they're both so tempting. Gaaah.
-Oh and: I WILL be travelling next year (Hopefully visiting a few countries. :D We already reserved our flights (to Hamburg and from Munich), so I better not have any issues coming up. :D
-I'm still not giving up on making that timetable. Not a SINGLE one has worked, but I will try till the end. XDD and not be distracted by shiny objects like football
-And.. I should clear up my room. It wouldnät be a big job, since it's mostly arranging and getting the paper mess together, but it's hard to get started. :D
Yes, monster post., but I post so rarely nowadays, that I just post everything. Or something. XD
