GAAAH. Lahm is retiring from the national team and Kroos is going to Madrid. WHyyyyyyyyyyy??????
And yeah, I have enough problems in my personal life, so I guess this was less devastating compared to them, but stiillll.
I get it. Sort of. Kroos doesn't get paid as much as Götze, which is blasphemy, considering the importance of the players and how long Kroos has played for Bayern. Bleh. Well, I wish him the best.
Lahm... I mean, he couldn't wait until after the Euros? I mean, yeah, it's special to retire as World Champion, but, but... the only thing missing is the European Championship Gold. Thank goodness he's still playing for Bayern...
Anyway... A random short summary of the past World Cup. YAY.
So what I liked:
-Obviously: Germany. Such an amazing, amazing team, who SO have had this coming for a while. Best on paper and in the tournament.
-Germany get to be the one to dash Argentina's World Cup hopes. AGAIN. (Third time in a row too. This time in the final)
-Germany's teamwork: Teamwork is the right tactic (Sad that this is not actually self-evident in a team sport and people just look for those "heroes")
-Awesome goalkeepers (and ending up shining and really saving their respective teams)
-The amount of goals in the group stage
-Two hat tricks! (by Bayern players... Just saying..)
-Costa Rica making it so far
-Bayern players scored the most goals (again): 18 as much as Germany, who tie Brazil of 2002 as the world cup winner to score the most goals (btw. Spain has the record for least goals scored by the world cup winner)
-Unpopular opinion: but I like this year's World Cup son more than the last one. (Nothing on '98 though)
-Klose's 16th goal!
-Müller's crawling free kick weirdness
-Boateng vs. Boateng. Again.
-The spray paint
-Goal technology
What I didn't like
-Bosnia and Herzegovina's goal being disallowed and likely costing them that spot in the knock out stage. And it was their first World Cup too!
-Head injuries. Seriously, why did the players get to go on playing?
-Argentina making the final. GAH
-The Netherlands NOT making the final
-The unrealistic expectations of the Brazilians
-Fair play to Colombia... Yeah... Just like last time there is that problem with different matches and different refs.
-Messi's Golden Ball. I mean, COME ON!
-That Brazil had the WC in the first place. They really need to focus on the health of their people
-African countries not with their shit together. Except Algeria
-Crappy fans
-People still wondering how Germany do well in these kind of tournaments.. as if they don't have actual quality or actually are a good team with good players who do as well as one should expect
-Close ups to crying people... whether the spectators or the players. I like seeing happy faces.
And memorable:
-Germany of course
-Germany demolishing Brazil (hard to forget that)
-Van Persie the flying Dutchman
-Some random locust/grasshopper on Rodriguez
Three random spectators running on the pitch (three separate occasions
-England's physiotherapist spraining his ankle during the game (goal celebration)
-Spain losing humiliatingly
-Brazil scored the first goal in the World Cup! (An own goal, but anyway...)
- Some idiots: Pepe and Alex Song
-The Luis Suárez biting incident... that people had actually bet on. XDD
-Brazil's tears (I mean their emotional state in general)
-The memes (as mentioned: the flying Dutchman, Tim Howard can save everything. Suajaws and others)
-The Brazilian super fan, whose sad face while hugging the replica of the World Cup trophy, makes me teary eyed. Gosh. I felt so bad for him- (He gave the trophy to some German fans. I didn't feel it was necessary.. I mean... Brazil still have a chance in the future and who knew how far Germany would go) He's been following Brazil since 1990, so at least he witnessed Brazil win in 2002.
http://mashable.com/2014/07/09/brazil-germany-world-cup-sweet-moment/ Btw. There are two "team of the tournaments"
One is based on statistics and given the players chosen, seems more legit. Also: NO Lionel Messi. XDD (Yay for Neuer, Lahm, Kroos, Müller, Hummels and Robben)
The other one was based on fan votes and includes too many Brazilians and THREE in defense, which pretty much invalidates the whole BS: I mean.. Brazilians.. IN DEFENSE. After the Germany game? Yeah... NO.
