Short on GGs and films
Guess who was late to school today? Guess who didn’t do any schoolwork during the holidays? And I was supposed to do my darn thesis then. Yeah. Now I have two weeks. Oh well. Maybe with school actually back, I will manage to do something?
At least I woke up early today and actually stayed awake prompted by my eagerness to check if Chris Colfer had won a Golden Globe. Didn’t want to get my hopes up, so I was positively surprised. (And yay for Glee in general) He’s such an amazing and unique and marvellous individual, and seems like such a genuinely nice and good-hearted person, that one just can’t help but feel that he just DESERVES it for being that person alone. But of course, from what I can tell he’s one heck of an actor as well. :D
Aww~~<3 This makes me smile SO much. And still does after watching it for… quite a few times…
Brightened my day considerably. And helps the process of getting over the FIFA Ballon d’Or snub. Not that I can forget it. Wesley Sneijder was ROBBED!
Aaaanywaayyyy The Facebook film won 4 GGs… hmm.. I’m going to have to check this one, since I’ve mainly encountered good stuff on it. Also “Black Swan”. Since it’s a psychological thriller. (LOVE those)
Speaking of which I finally watched Shutter Island, and absolutely LOVED it. I didn’t know much, besides that it featured an institution for the criminally insane and that apparently there was a twist. AND one either saw it coming or was completely surprised by it. I, however, didn’t see that there was any twist. Whatever was supposed to be that I took as self-evident and as an important part of a psychologically multi-layered plot (that was SO much more). I enjoyed analysing the psychological journey and watching the whole picture unfold to me as a viewer and to the characters in the film while also providing perhaps alternate interpretations to what was shown. The (perhaps bittersweet) ending seemed quite final, but it didn’t completely leave out other options (apparently the book is much more up to interpretation. Need to read that). At least I felt that there was a sense of ambiguity in the film as a whole, which to me was one of its greatest strengths.
I think my layout looks weird. Is it an LJ thing or/and do I need to get a new one? I really like this one, but there’s no point in having a layout that… doesn’t seem to work. :(
